Cricket chirps filled the silent night, the air crisp and cool but nice. The sky was pinpricked with little stars, a countless amount of eyes watching from the depths of space. Of course, Venuskit couldn’t care less about the sky, he was more focused on getting out to his precious garden. Slinking out of the nursery, the nighttime senses hit him hard at first, and for a moment it was too much. Hesitating as he entered the deserted clearing, the tall tom-kit sped up, twisting to reach the back of the nursery. The scent of his plants hung in the air, an instant relief to the smell of nursing queens and other kits.
“Hello plants.” He murmured, laying down in the small crater he dug for himself in the very middle of his garden. Wrapping his tail around himself, the oddly spotted kit lay his head on his paws. He would much rather sleep out here than in the confines of the nursery, it was much better. He wasn’t trapped. “I like the night.” He stared at the bluebells he had planted a while back, already so y’all and beautiful.

It was proving to be another sleepless night for Acornkit, she had tried to lay down but the stillness around her began to creep through her pelt. She had left the nursery in the early stages of night and was walking the perimeter of the clearing collecting small twigs, she had no reason for doing the task it was simply a means to keep her paws moving and her mind clear. "25, 26, 27, 28, 29....30!" She counted the sticks she had already collected, all laying stacked in a neat pile in front of her, it was no secret the she-cat was odd even at such a young age some even thought her to be a bit deranged. As she stood staring at her collection movement near the nursery caught her eye and she looked over to see Venuskit slipping out, she knew about his garden, he had taught her about some of the plants he grew and even how to grow and take care of them.
Acornkit opened her mouth to call his name but he disappeared into the shadow, shaking her ginger and white pelt she began to trot over to where his garden was, hoping thats where he had gone. "Venuskit?" She fought to keep her voice low, it was hard for her not to speak loudly but the sounds of sleep around her kept her more quiet than usual.
“Oh pretty flowers.” He whispered, letting a blissful sigh escape his lips. The tip of his tail twitched, tapping gently on the ground subconsciously. Twitching his ears, his brain didn’t seem to register that someone had called his name. He wondered if his flowers were finally speaking back to him, whispering his name on their beautiful petals. Getting to his paws, Venuskit gently touched his nose to the bluebell and wondered off to the small hole he had dug, the hole that held his yet to be planted seeds.
Picking up a special seed—that of a sunflower, he guessed by the shape—he went to one of the sunnier spots in his garden, at least the sunnier spot in the day, and dug a small hole. Gingerly placing the seed in, he covered it up with the mound of dirt as if tucking it into bed. “Goodnight, little sunflower, we will see you again soon.” He hummed, padding away from the garden on a quest for water. The little flower needed it, after all.

(Sooooo sorry, everything has been hectic but I am finally off for the weekend!)
Acornkit stood watching Venuskit as he went about tending to his plants, wondering if he had hear her call his name or if he was ignoring her. Did I do something wrong? The thought popped into her head instantly and her eyes grew round with worry as she began to think back to their past encounters, replaying everything she had said and done. "V-venuskit?" She mewed again as he started to walk in search of water for his flowers.
His ears perked slightly, the only clue to show he had even heard his name to begin with. We’re they talking to him? Maybe not, so instead he decided it would be better to just not say anything at all. “Good pretties.” He whispered, turning away from his little garden and padding into the empty clearing. He vaguely saw another shape, but again, thought it didn’t concern him. He instead padded to the edge of camp, admiring all the flowers growing about.
He rarely ever ventured into camp during the day, and most of the time he spent in his garden at night, which meant he didn’t really have a good grasp on his own home. Deciding today that he should try to figure it out, he set about with solving this simple puzzle.

Acornkit let out a little huff as the tom continued to go about what he was doing, deciding she would never get his attention this way she walked out into the open and tapped the tom on the shoulder lightly with her tail. "Whatcha doin Venuskit?" She asked watching him.
As he was sniffing his way around the apprentices den, careful to be extra quiet for the sleeping cats, he felt a touch on his shoulder. It was light, almost gentle upon his fur, but he still froze for a quick second. Turning sharply, just a tad bit annoyed at being interrupted, Venuskit blinked curiously at Acornkit for a few heartbeats.

"Oh." She looked away from Venuskit and around camp, it made sense, she had never seen the tom very far from the nursery. "Can I come with you?" She asked in a cheery voice, collecting sticks could wait, this seemed more fun.
He tilted his head slightly, thinking for a moment. “Maybe.” He responded briskly, standing straighter and wondering off. He didn’t mind the she-kit, he quite liked her, actually, but he wasn’t opposed to her staying behind. Acornkit tagging along wasn’t something he had seen coming, nor something that made him feel really light. It was just . . . it’s own thing. He wasn’t against her coming, because his mind was set on one thing and one thing only, exploring.

Acornkit bounced on her paws, he had said maybe but it wasn't a no and so she followed behind him with a large smile on her face. "You haven't been around camp much have you? I've never seen you far from the nursery or your garden." She kept her eyes on him as she followed, not caring that he kept his own gaze forward. She was just happy to have some company for once, usually she spent her sleepless nights alone.
He sniffed around for a few seconds, staring up at the wilting flowers sadly. They were dying and he couldn’t do anything about it! It tore him up inside, really. “No, too loud. Too crowded.” He absolutely hated the amount of cats in camp. They were noisy and numbered, it was much too busy for his sake. The night time was perfect. That’s when everybody slept. All quiet and peaceful and dreamlike. “I like night.” He murmured in his usual monotone voice, eyes drawing around to the different dens, all filled with sleeping cats.
