Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Cas crept out of the tunnels and out into the forest. The moon was barely a claw in the sky, barely shedding any light on his path. His black fur blended in with the darkness of the forest, his sea glass green eyes being the only things visible in the shadows. He crept along, keeping to himself. He wasn't fond of having company but then again, he never really dismissed it either. He leaped easily over a fallen tree in his path as he made his way toward a pond just inside the territory. It wasn't like most ponds. It was more of a swampy pond--algae floating on the surface that clung to lily pads--sticks, shrubs, and trees poked up out of the murky water. Cat tail plants bordered the pond, bowing to a gentle breeze. Spanish moss draped across the branches of the trees above and soggy decaying logs littered the soft, mushroom covered soil. A frog could be heard nearby, croaking loudly and drowning out the sound of the crickets. Fireflies flashed in the shadows, giving away some light into the shadows that the moon and stars refused to cover--or at least what part of the moon was visible. This was the only place he could come to get piece and quiet. He positioned himself comfortably onto an old upturned boat with a giant hole in the bottom, over looking the pond. Such peacefulness.
"It is a peaceful night." Raiser Zahira dipped her head to her fellow soldier as she approached him. It wasn't often that she left the tunnels, but tonight had seemed like a peaceful night for a walk and leaving the tunnels was always a good change of pace especially with everything that was going on. Zahira tended to be a bit on the quiet side and didn't know many of the soldiers outside of Post Kilo as she had spent her entire life there as a raiser, but lately Venus had been urging her to get out and get to know the others. Perhaps this was her first attempt at that. Honestly she wasn't sure, but either way it would be nice to have a bit of company at least.
Cas jumped, slightly startled by the sudden voice, and shifted awkwardly on the old boat, unsure of what he should say. He, too, was rather shy and quiet. He dipped his head as Zahira approached. "Zahira, greetings. Yes, it is peaceful tonight. Er...what brings you out here?" He asked shyly.
"A walk really." She offered him a weak smile. "According to Venus I spend too much time in Post Kilo. She said I need to get out more. Were you out for a walk as well?" She could only assume so since it was rare to see anyone besides the scouts on the surface. "Its certainly nice out at the moment though. Don't you think so?"
He shifted on the boat to leave room for Zahira in case she wanted to join him. "Um...yeah, I was on a walk. Despite living the tunnels, I cant help but feel drawn to the outside world too" he confessed, scanning his surroundings and taking in the beauty. "The tunnels are just far too dark and stuffy. Its good to get some fresh-air every now and then." Though, he only came out at night. He hated the sun. It was too bright for him. The darkness was quiet and, well, dark. He loved that about the night. Night was also a whole new world compared the the day time. Different creatures came out at night and the world looked different.
"I suppose that is one way of looking at things. Leaving the tunnels makes me nervous honestly, especially now with SunClan and everything. She was taught basic self defense like most Raisers, but that would only get her so far. Perhaps that was another reason she tended to stay in the tunnels more often than not. She did jump up on the boat to sit beside him at least. "While I don't mind it up here, I would have to say I honestly feel more comfortable in the tunnels."
"I can understand that. I guess I'm just an odd ball, then" he chuckled, casting his gaze out over the pond, letting the sound of crickets and frogs sing in the silence between them for a moment. "So, do you think Sunclan will come and attack?"
"Probably. As long as Foxstar is our prisoner, they aren't going to stay away. I know why the commander is keeping her, but at the same time, holding her here is dangerous." She had been in Post Kilo with the rest of the Raisers at the time of the attack, but it hadn't made the situation any less frightening, especially since Limavady had betrayed them right in the middle of the battle. "I'm sure we'll beat them though. The Regime hasn't lasted this long from being weak after all." She then turned her gaze up to the sky. "I do hope it all ends soon though. I would honestly prefer peace to all of this violence."
He was quiet for a moment, thinking. "I'm surprised you haven't tried to run for commander of the league" he mewed. "We could use more peace. Not that I disrespect Commander Mars but I do agree that this plan is risky."
This drew a laugh out Zahira. "The best I could ever hope for is chaman and even then, I trust the commander. I might not always agree with him, but he looks like he is doing his best. Who is to say SunClan would leave us alone even if they got Foxstar back after all?" For now, this would have to be enough. Being able to enjoy a quiet evening with the company of a fellow soldier was already enjoyable. "It is a peaceful night though. I've never realized just how pretty the stars can be."
"It's hard telling. I normally avoid getting involved in a lot of the more political stuff that happens here." Thinking on it made her worry and the tykes tended to pick up emotions pretty easily so it was best to push such things to the back of your mind. Deciding it might be best to change the subject, she looked back down at the water. "It really isn't so bad up here is it? It's actually pretty peaceful at the moment."
"I honestly prefer to stay in Crescent Hollow where I can sun myself without actually having to leave the tunnels." It was her favorite spot to visit on her days off actually, especially in the warmer months when the ice had thawed.
"Just try not to fall in the water out here. I don't think there are many of us that know how to swim." She flicked his shoulder with her tail as she stood up again. "Although I might suggest exploring the tunnels a bit more sometimes. There are glowing crystals the further down you go."
(I sort of deleted her so I'll probably switch characters after this post lol) "Perhaps I will. Until then I suppose I should be heading back. It is unwise to stay out late at the moment."
