Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Smokecloud padded through a field, a gentle breeze rustled the lush green grass surrounding his paws. He looked around, there were no cats around, no bird chirping nearby. It was silent, completely soundless. Suddenly, he saw an orange light in the middle of the field. As he came closer, he realized it was a small flame. Soon, it grew bigger but there was no heat to it. It was light, airy, and beautiful, giving off a heavenly feeling. The breeze grew stronger and herbs swirled around the flame. Suddenly, he knew. It was a sign from Starclan. A choice they had made for the next medicine cat apprentice.
Smokecloud stirred in his nest and blinked open his eyes. Grumbling, he stood up and looked over at the empty nest beside him where his former apprentice had been. He had decided not to be medicine cat apprentice anymore had returned to normal apprentice duties. Now, Smokecloud had to appoint a new apprentice. He stood from his nest and padded out. He knew exactly who he was looking for. Etherealpaw. He saw the white tom enjoying a meal across camp. He needed to speak to Shadedstar about his dream.
He headed for the leader's den and called in, "Shadedstar? Are you in there?"
Etherealkit had been curled up in the nursery with his littermates. He was the largest and oldest out of his siblings with his two triplets coming in second and third. Their father Elfinsight had visited them in days and the young tom kit was growing hungry. Leaving his littermates behind he slipped out of the nursery and headed to the fresh kill pile. As he approached he noticed a small mouse that was perfect in size for him to eat. He grabbed it and dragged it back towards the nursery entrance where he could sit and enjoy the mouse and listen for his siblings to wake up.
( I think they may be currently in the process of moving? I know I messaged them about some Fallclan things, but that was before I noticed they were on the absent chart )
Shadedstar startled awake, jerking his head in every which direction before he straightened himself out. “Wha—yes! Yes, I’m here.” He sat up, stretched, and gave a mighty yawn. “Come in.” He recognized the voice of his medicine-cat, Smokecloud, just outside his den. “What is it, Smokecloud?” He breathed in deeply, the flowers that surrounded his den—flowers he put there himself—giving off a sweet aroma. He yawned again. It was much too early to be up and about.
Smokecloud entered the den, dipping his head in respect. His eyes held apology. "I'm so sorry, Shadedstar. I didn't mean to wake you. I just thought that you might want to know that I have had a vision."
“It’s fine, it’s fine.” He licked his paw and dragged it across his ear. But now he was awake. He straightened up after shaking out his sleep messy fur and gazed seriously at Smokecloud. “A vision? What about?” His heart started to race, anxiety clawing at his stomach.
He let out a sigh of relief. “Good news, thank StarClan! Well then, I guess it must be so. Let’s just hope he’s up to it.” The large tom climbed out of his cozy nest, stretched once more, and made his way for the exit. “Should we go tell him now. If he’s awake, after all.”
Shadedstar nodded, leaving the comfort of his flower-strewn den for the morning air. Few clung to the grass, wetting his paws. If he wasn’t already awake, this surely would have woken him up. Gazing around the camp, he caught sight of the maybe-soon-to-be-medicine-cat-apprentice. “Hey, Etherealkit! Can we have a word?” He spoke gently, not wanting to intimidate him with two of the highest members of the Clan wanting a chat—out of nowhere, no less. He gestured to his den again with his tail.
