Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Here he was once again. Honestly, he felt like this fight had been justified. He had warned those loners what would happen if they set foot across the border and to his credit, he was certain that he had harmed the two of them far more than they had hurt him. This was mostly his ego talking of course. Two against one had been difficult odds but he had come out decent despite everything. He wasn't seriously wounded at least. He was in trouble for starting yet another fight though. He would be stuck on tunnel duty for the next moon or so which was going to drive him crazy.
Then there was the fact that he was back in the garden having his wounds tended to yet again. He was pretty sure the guiders kept a special store of medicine just for him at this point since he was made to come here for every little cut or scrape he picked up in a fight. His current wounds looked worse than they were honestly. He had torn his left ear at the tip and he had a long cut going down his left cheek that was still bleeding. He just hoped that whoever they sent to take care of him didn't lecture him. He had already heard enough from his father. He really didn't feel like listening to anyone else.

Somehow Head Guider Cadet Reka had managed to become this Mercenary's own personal Guider. Many of the others seemed exasperated by him and she was somehow often one of the only ones available to help. Now she sat beside him quietly tending to his wounds and moved to care for the wounds on his face. "You really should take better care of yourself. Don't your wounds hurt?" She asked in a soft voice, gently dabbing some medicine on the cut across his cheek.
"Of course they hurt! It's better than letting those flea bitten rogues hunt prey on our land though! If you let them run free there's no telling what they might do!" His voice came out as an ill tempered growl. He was tired of being scolded when he was simply doing what mercenaries were supposed to do. What sort of mercenary would he be if he let trespassers have free reign on Regime land? So what if there were two of them? He was fully confident in his ability to handle such situations.

“Well, just maybe-” She pressed a little harder on one of his wounds as she leaned closer to his ears “You should bring a little more backup with you. Other cats don’t like seeing you hurt either - including me. Coming in here and bleeding all over my garden.” She made a few tsk sounds at the end of the sentence but backed off after she finished.
Reka removed the pressure she had put on him and decided to approach him a different way. “You know, we don’t scold you because you did a bad thing - you did a good thing and you did your job. We scold you because we don’t like seeing you in pain and hurting because all it takes is one bad injury to end everything. We are being selfish because we care about you.” Her voice was soft and she stopped, making eye contact as she finished her sentence.
"Yeah...Tell that to Superior Shule or the Commander the next time they yell at me over it." His tone was clearly bitter but that was all that he would say on that matter. He didn't exactly get along with his father and he tended to dislike Shule's hard handed tactics. He listened to both of them of course since he had to, but he wouldn't go out of his way to speak to either of them or really anyone in the Regime at this point. They all considered him to be a nuisance as far as he could tell.
"You shouldn't worry about me too much. Fighting is what mercenaries are supposed to do. Getting injured is part of that." He honestly wasn't used to others openly expressing concern for him so he had been a bit embarrassed by her words. He would never admit this of course. He had an image to uphold.

"Tough luck. Cats can't control what we worry over." She rolled her eyes and finished patching him up, flicking his shoulder with her tail. "There, you should be good to go. Lay here for a while and rest. I want to keep an eye on that nasty gash for a little bit." She scooted away from him just a little bit to reorganize her herbs nearby. "Are you feeling tired?" She asked, glancing over her shoulder at him. She may have been a cadet still, but she was very skilled and the full fledged guiders trusted her enough to treat cats on her own since she was so far into her training.
Basil grumbled out an inaudible response. He didn't like having others fuss over him. It was better than having them yell at him for causing trouble but still...No one had exactly fussed over him since he was a small tyke so he wasn't quite sure how to respond other than to lay down as she had told him. "It will be fine...I should be good to return to my duties tomorrow like always." Of course he knew nothing about medicine, but he didn't want to be taken off of active duty since sitting around all day was only going to drive him mad. "I've already said I'm fine haven't I? I'm no more tired than any other mercenary." Sure his tone had been a bit sharp. He hadn't meant to snap at her really, but that was how it had come out.

She didn’t take his sharp tone or edgy words personal. Reka knew that he was simply on edge and irritated and had nothing to do with her outside of her fussing about him. “I have no doubt you’ll be okay, your wounds are not particularly deep or bad so long as we keep infection out. “If you can’t sleep or you are in pain let me know and I can give you some poppy later, other than that I want to ask you for some help. I need to go and collect some herbs on the surface and it would be foolish for me to go by myself.” Of course she wanted to keep an eye on him in her own weird little way but she genuinely did need to surface and she felt most comfortable with him out of all the cats she could ask.
