Magickit bounded out of the nursery. It was a clear, summery day but it was still chilly in Winterclan. Weaving through legs and under paws, she grabbed a small mouse before hoofing it back to the nursery. She got some yells and scowls, but didn't seem to acknowledge them. Barely not dragging it, she pressed herself into a groove by the entrance of the nursery, letting out a pant and a grin. She eyed her meal, salivating and ready to eat when...
Littlefawn sat by the entrance to the nursery, eyes closed and one forepaw resting on top of the other to keep in the warmth and stop himself shivering. He half-opened one eye when he heard little paws scampering past him and smiled thinly, watching with vague amusement as the kit struggled with the mouse, so small yet so determined.
"Bit much for a kit to eat all by yourself, don't you think?" he asked dryly, looking down at her as she opened her mouth to eat. He loved all the kits in his care, he truly did, but his love was far less soft than it was efficient and there was quite a bit of sombre ice entwined with the affection; it was not only his duty to see that they were well cared for, he also saw it as his duty to ensure they would grow up to be a credit to the Clan. Even if he wasn't. "Hard day of hunting, was it? Fight off a whole patrol at the border? If you've done all that, you must deserve to eat an entire mouse."

"Yep!" Magickit turned to look at Littlefawn, yellow eyes glowing as she puffed up her chest, "My day started, I headed out after scowling at my clanmates." Standing up and stretching, she walked in place rigidly for a few steps. "First, I found a big fat vole!" She dropped into a hunting crouch, wiggling her haunches, "I approached it slowly and then. WHAM!" She sprang over her mouse, catching a piece of moss further into the nursery, shaking her head quickly to snap the moss vole's neck. Ignoring the shreds of moss in her mouth, she sat up and continued, "I brought it back to camp, then headed for the Summerclan border." Doing her little walk in place, she suddenly turned on her heel, "when I ran into 12 cats. Heh. It was a hard battle, but I made it through." Her black chest puffed out again, she tilted her neck towards him, revealing a scratch she got from playing with one of the other kits, "See that? Battle scar." Her eyes narrowed in seriousness, finally going back to her mouse.
"All in all. Yeah, least a hero like me deserves a mouse." She smiled.
Littlefawn fought back a fond smile, forcing his expression to remain stern as he nodded along. He craned his neck to follow her story as she leaped further into the nursery, brows quirked seriously and stump of a tail thumping against the earth in amusement. He laid a forepaw over it to stop its treachery. "Twelve cats?" he echoed loftily, raising his chin and looking down at her over the bridge of his nose. His eyes lingered on the scratch on her cheek; he'd need to have a word with the other kit about keeping their claws sheathed when they were playing. "All this in just one morning? My, you certainly have been busy."
Before she could take her first bite of the mouse, he swooped in and scooped it up in his jaws, eyes glittering with a playful challenge. It was bad form, really, to teach a kit that it was acceptable to play with one's prey; he brushed the thought aside. "But I have to put up with you everyday," he mumbled around the mouse. "So, I think I deserve this." Smiling down at her, he trotted away across the clearing, glancing back at the kit over his shoulder once or twice to see if she was giving chase.

"What?! I have to put up with you too, you know!" Magickit huffed. She put a lot of effort into the story, least he could give her a bite for the entertainment. She couldn't back down from a challenge, probably how she got the scrat, er- scar in the first place. She rushed out of the nursery, once again putting her life on the line for that mouse. Even if the clearing was mostly clear, the remaining few still found a way to get in her way.
