Darkpaw stood in the sandy clearing of the training hollow. He backed up to one side of the clearing. He pretended there was an invisible enemy on the otherside of the clearing that had their back to the apprentice. The tom crouched down spread his paws out until he looked like a lumbering badger. He wondered if he was doing the move properly. He wiggled his haunches and leapt at the unsee enemy. When he hit the sand he tumbled into a tangle of uncoordinated paws and skidded across the clearing. Getting sand all of his face, pelt, and some in his mouth. His eyes were shut tight to prevent the sand from getting into them.

Omenpaw had been on his way to the training hollow to practice some of the fighting moves his mentor showed him when the noise of another cat made him stop, keeping himself downwind he crept forward until he had a full view of the hollow and his brother, Darkpaw. The dilute calico tom stayed put as he watched the other apprentice curious to see what was going to happen, he wasn't prepared for what he saw next as the tom jumped forward and hit the ground making a small rivet in the sand where his body pushed through it. Holding back his laughter Omenpaw stood up and joined Darkpaw in the hollow as he began to spit sand from his mouth. "You know I personally prefer a warm mouse over sand." His mouth twitched with a smile and the amusement in his voice was strong as he sat down watching his littermate.
Darkpaw opened his eyes while he sat up from the spot he had fallen. Spitting sand out on to the ground. His mouth felt instantly dry as he struggled to get the sand out. As he was spitting sand his brother Omenpaw walked out into the clearing. "Not funny." Darkpaw narrowed his eyes and sent a glance in his brother's direction. Standing up shaking his pelt he sent the left over bits of sand flying in every direction. "I'm thinking about going to the waterfall."

Omenpaw let a purr rise in his throat and smiled, he trotted over to his brother avoiding the pray of sand and grit fly from his pelt and looked him over. "I was only joking, don't get your tail all twisted, mind if I join you?" He reached his tail out and brushed it against Darkpaws shoulder dislodging a bit of sand that still clung to his pelt. "Maybe I can help you practice your fighting." Omenpaw was training to be a hunter, his skills in fighting subpar at best but that didn't mean he couldn't be a stand in to help his littermate hone in on his own skills.
"You can join me if you want." He answered, scowling as his brother brushed off the sand from his fur. He felt like a kit against in the nursery. When his mother use to groom their pelts when they got too dusty playing outside. "I will beat you, because I'm a fighter. Maybe you can show me some of those fancy hunting moves your mentor has been showing you."

Omenpaw ignored the scowl his brother gave him, but moved his tail away from the tom all the same. "You probably will beat me, but that doesn't mean you can't practice. I may not be a fighter but I think I can manage." He smiled as he spoke, his thick calico pelt swaying slightly as a breeze whisked through the hollow. "I can teach you a few hunting things, Racoonbandit is a good mentor but I still have so much to learn." He took a step in the direction of the waterfall and looked back at Darkpaw over his shoulder waiting for him.
"What is it like being skilled at hunting? Any time I attempt to hunt I fall on my face or scare the prey away." Darkpaw commented as he started walking in the direction that his brother did. His tail twitched as the breeze messed up his already messy black pelt.

(Sorry, I lost this!)
Omenpaw thought for a moment about his brothers question before answering as best he could. "It's amazing, feeling the rush of the hunt and knowing that everything you catch will help the clan to survive. It gets tricky sometimes depending on what you are after, I learned how to climb the trees to chase after prey and I am trying to get better at jumping between trees, I want to be able to hunt and travel through the territory without touching the ground. I do make mistakes though, I've ended up on my face a time or two" His eyes were shinning as he spoke, hunting truly was his calling. "What about you? Whats it like to fight?" He had never been interested in it himself, but he often watched the fighters practice.
