Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
(One Spy Cadet Position is open. Two will be selected but one spy position has already been filled. Anyone who is interested in the spy position is welcome to try out)
Commander Mars was sitting off to the side as he watched a gathering group of cadets. The time had come to select another spy. For this reason, he had requested that Xuxa be here today to test these cadets and select the one she thought best suited for the role of a spy. Xuxa was his most experienced spy at the moment so it only made sense for her to pick out the cadet she would be training to join the selective rank. He wouldn't do or say much in this. He was really only here to observe and to congratulate the cadet that Xuxa selected in the end.
To say Shae was excited would be a massive understatement. She couldn't believe she had actually been selected for this test. Her tail trembled with excitement, as she looked around at the other cadets. Underneath it all she was nervous, she had been selected yes but, the test hadn't started yet. All at once her nerves vanished when she caught sight of her father sitting on the sidelines. Before she realized it she was already hurrying over to him. A purr broke out in her chest as she touched noses with her father. "Are you here to watch the test?" she asked, doing her best to stay still.

( I'm in it for the fun, since I already have two positions in RR. No need to consider my characters. cx )
It was par for the course that much of Mars' family would turn up. After all, the Commander's relatives, whether blood or through marriage, had all made a name for themselves in one way or other, to the point that four of the five Sentinels claimed ties to the tom's family. Both Lisbet and Larus had shown up, though really, the Raiser Cadet had been the only one invited. Lisbet was a gossip, and always seems to know exactly what rumors were floating about. Besides, she was already proving herself to hardly be the best sort for raising tykes, irritable and quick to point out the flaws of the young cats around her. Perhaps something like this would suit her... Larus, for his part, had basically begged to come along. The chubby turkish angora couldn't be a worse fit for the role if he tried, really. He was too sick to have any duty other than Guider, and even then, it was mostly so the other cats could constantly take care of him that he was given this rank. Besides that, he was neither personable, nor sneaky, and despite being Mars' nephew, most cats didn't trust him for his resemblance to his father, Limavady. They shared the same brown tabby pattern and similar green eyes, though the cadet had a white tip on the end of his tail. Hardly anyone's first choice, or tenth... but he'd refused to let Lisbet go on without him.
Mars smiled. "I thought it only fitting that I be here to witness the selection of our new spies. Spies have a very important job, one that I am sure Xuxa will explain." While he would have wanted to show a bit more affection, he also realized that showing any favoritism to his daughter might look bad should she be chosen for the position, especially considering the fact that a good number of the ranking positions at the moment had some sort of relation to him. "Be sure you do your best with your tests." Of course the fact that Shae had made it here at all made him proud.
Xuxa sauntered over towards the cats, fun fact about her, she never blinked. Her cobalt blue eyes reflected that of a corpse with a fleshy pink color where the whites of the eyes should be. While she had a fox figured she was mangled, marred, and scarred. The scars weren't flat, they bulged and pulsed seeming to protrude out even further as she stepped closer to the cadets. Her right ear was torn off, but apart of it remaining seeming to hang by a thread of cartilage that moved like a leaf barely clinging to a branch in the wind. She eyed each of the cadets carefully before speaking, "You're on a patrol with your mother, your father, your future mate, and Commander Mars. A band of foxes comes in, there's too many for you to fight off. You're the only one not being attached, you can only save one person, who do you save? You each have ten seconds, that's how fast you can die from a wound to a throat and I'm being generous on time that starts now. Ten, nine, eight, awaiting your answer, seven, six-"
The littermates answered in unison, though neither's answer could be more different from the other.
"My mother!" Lisbet announced incredulously. Both Fjord and Mars were well enough trained that if anyone could make it out alive from foxes, it was them. Her future mate, well, she had no idea if she had a crush on them or not, or if they were dating or anything, or what rank they were. For all she knew, they were a Sentinel or Mercenary themselves, in which case, they were much better off than she. Venus, on the other paw, was a Raiser. If anyone needed the help, it was her.
Larus response wasn't nearly so well thought out, nor was it so kind to any of the cats in this scenario. "Myself." His answer was blunt and almost disturbingly selfish. It was an afterthought of an explanation that he justified it with his inability to help to the point he'd been appointed a Guider Cadet, simply because he wasn't fit for anything else. If he would only hinder those fighting, then he should just leave them to it and ensure one of them made it out alive. That's what he told himself, anyway.
(I'll add in Athena-tyke so that we fill the second slot since no one else appears to be interested. We'll just pretend she had to wait an extra moon or so because of her age)
Honestly, Athena-tyke would have liked longer to discover what she would truly do, but she only had a few seconds to speak. "My mother!" The commander could fight and so could her father. She honestly had no interest in romance and her mother was the Chaman. The Chaman was very important position just like the commander was. It made sense in the end, but she supposed the technically correct answer would be to save the commander. Either way her answer would not change.
Xuxa pointed a paw at Larus with a sly smile, but said never confirmed whether they were right or wrong for their answers.
"I think a lot if I was strong enough who would I have saved from Kotori when he attacked my mom. My mom had two lives, he took both, but if I had time, there was a warrior dying, there was an unconscious apprentice who I couldn't tell if they were dead or alive, my own siblings were in danger. As a spy you only have moments to react and no time to regret, if you even think about regretting your actions in the moment you and those around you are as good as dead. You're an elite savior to Renegade Regime kind, you're not allowed to be good, you have to better than who you are for the sake of everyone. This is why when you're a Spy training will be boring, you'll do very repetitive tasks, the same moves, but they will come to you naturally, in times of battle and conflict you won't have to think about where to put your paws, who to strike, you will just know, it'll be instinct. The most important part of being a Spy is your heads ability to think fast. That you just have to be born with."
"Let's do another exercise. You're sent on a mission to find an herb that will save the Regime from a horrible sickness, this isn't uncommon. You found the herb, but it slipped into a river, no problem, you're trained to be adaptable, but you're not exactly the best swimmer, but naturally you go to grab it with your teeth. Then a kit falls into the water who had been following you along the river. You're not great at swimming, you can only hold one with your teeth and use the rest of your limbs to get out. Sacrifice is not an option, it'll take moons for another Spy to get to where you're at, you're too valuable. Who do you save? The herb that'll save the Regime, or the kit?"
This question was more difficult than the last, but Athena-tyke already knew what her answer would be. "The herb!" Yes she would forever feel guilty for letting the kit be swept away by the water, but there was no way she could sacrifice countless lives for the sake of one. The kit shouldn't have been following her in the first place after all. If there was a chance, she would prefer to save both, but if she could only pick one, the herb that would save the Regime would have to come first.
