Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
"Undertow," Wyverndelirium called, not breaking stride as he headed out of the cave, "come with me. We need to talk."
If he was being perfectly honest, and he usually was, he didn't trust the black rogue, not a mouselength. But he was a part of the clan now and as deputy he couldn't pick favorites, and he had to admit the tom looked intimidating, and that was exactly what he needed right now. He needed to prove to his leader he was useful still and he needed to prove to these newcomers he was in charge, and why not start with the fierce-looking quiet one? The golden-brown tom tilted an ear back to listen for pawsteps following him. Besides, this was a serious mission: there was a cat quietly speaking out against Riverstar's leadership and they needed to shut her down and bring her to the prison before she caused trouble.
Undertow didn't say anything, merely got to his paws and followed Wyverndelirium, pawsteps almost silent. He wondered what the deputy wanted, though he had spoken briefly in agreement of the deposing of Violetstar, he was so far, rather unimpressed with Riverstar. Not that he would say as much, it didn't take a genius to see what happened when you spoke out of turn. Truthfully he found it amusing. Riverstar was so paranoid of cats overturning his rule he tried to force them to be silent, by throwing dissenters in 'prison'. Great leader in deed. But he certainly kept things interesting.
"What is it you need?" He asked voice silky and calm, not at all bothered by the deputy taking him aside to talk.
"I need you to look tough and keep an eye out," he responded, glancing over serious and firm. "There's another cat speaking out against Riverstar and we're going to question her. If she cracks, she's joining the others in prison." He kept it simple and straightforward, though it was a little more complicated than that, at least once he considered his tangle of emotions. Wy wasn't confident locking up their own cats was a good idea, especially this one since she was his niece, but he had to follow his leader's orders and prove he wasn't going to back down from the tricky bits. He was a deputy and he had to prove his worth, and what better way then capturing a prisoner?
"Ah, another cat to throw into the hole," His words were crisp. Though his eyes gleamed with amusement, though it was unclear what amused him. "Let us go commence the intimidation then," he said gesturing for Wyverndelirium to lead the way.
His ears twitched. "Only if we have to. Let's see what's going and maybe we can resolve this peacefully first," He replied firmly. He turned and led the rogue onward and into the territory. "I saw her hunting by the river earlier."
Undertow chuckled, peaceful, right. Only for Wyverndelirium, the she cat in question would have to be terrified by Undertow's appearance alone to hold her tongue. Marshall law was hardly peaceful, but it was cute to see Wyverndelirium trying to pretend to hold the high ground. "Of course, of course, peaceful." He purred tail flicking as he followed after the deputy.
He didn’t quite like the tom’s tone when he said that but he sensed arguing would just make it worse. He didn’t want to give the other a chance to undermine him so he held his tongue and forged ahead. They walked along the river until they found her fishing, absently running a paw through the water as she stared vacantly.
“Coralreef,” he called as they approached with a warm smile, hoping Undertow would stay quiet behind him. “Just the cat I meant to see. It’s been a while since we talked, huh?”
The blue she-cat watched them warily. “Not since Riverstar... assumed the position of leader.”
Undertow chuckled and sat down comfortably behind Wyverndelirium, tail flicking behind him. Hinting that despite his seated position he was far from relaxed.
He lifted a paw and began to wash it, letting the claws slide out as he did so, well within view of Coralreef as Wyverndelirium mentioned Riverstar becoming leader.
Her pale green eyes caught on the sight of the rogue's claws and she frowned slightly. Wyverndelirium went on, but she was focused on Undertow. Not quite as dumb as she seemed, she knew where this was going, and spoke up sharply. "What do you want, Wy?"
The deputy paused, his whiskers twitching in frustration, before he continued. "I want to know what you've been doing and where you've been going. I want you to admit it."
Coralreef glanced sideways between the pair. Thought for a minute. Opened her maw to speak. And turned, and ran the other way.
