Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
So I'm interested in how everyone else develops their characters over time. So this is my checklist
- Does the character have at least one unique physical feature about the character. Such as a diamond marking on the forehead or curly fur, maybe a very distinct eye color, etc.
- Does the character have family members? If so what are some characteristics and quirks that might rub off onto your character?
- Must have at least 5 facts that people don't know about the character right away just from looking at them
- What characters are they like in books and media?
- What character from books and media do their voices sound most like?
- What is their theme song?
- What's a flaw they hate about themselves and one they don't know they have?
- Do I currently imagine killing them off this month? Ever?
And from there through rping I write down good descriptive phrases such as descriptions of my cat or the way they smile, etc. However no character can be written as smiling the same way or having the same fidget as another character. The only exception being that they're related and those traits were observed and passed down to that character. I reuse these description phrases throughout rps. If I were writing a book this wouldn't be in good taste, but since this is rping and I'm always rping with new people who may not know about my characters I always make sure to write down good descriptions I've done to retain and rewrite them again.
Sometimes I'll even break apart what makes "Glowstar" Glowstar and not some other cat. Once I write down the core of the character they become rules that cannot be broken because if they were they would no longer be that character unless I wish to redefine who they are.
So, obviously I LOOOOVE getting invested in character development which is why I'm curious how you guys go about it and if I'm missing anything
