Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Ottermystique was probably depressed. She'd been stuck in a funk for a long time, and it had only been made worse when her childhood best friend had gotten first pregnant and then second taken from her position. It was all too much when it came down to it. She was breaking down, and now so was everything else. The whole life she had built was crumbled now. Sandtail was dead, Violeteyes had moved on and then was demoted... Ottermystique still hadn't moved on. It was all so bad. Some days, she wondered if she should just go back to the kittypet place.
When she was invited to show the new cat around, Ottermystique had thought about saying no. The senior warrior was sad. But, then, she wondered if this would be the perfect thing to get her mind off of things, so she finally agreed. Now, she was waiting for the cat at the edge of camp, ready as she'd ever be to lead a tour.
Cody... er... Puddleleap, padded briskly to meet Ottermystique. His pale cream and white pelt still having pieces of moss stuck to it from his night in the warriors den for the first time. He hadn't normally made an actual nest when he was sleeping in tree hollows or caves. He just curled up into his own pelt and slept just fine. Now he felt like he was sleeping on clouds in the den surrounded by warm snoring bodies.
Midnight blues blinking as he recognized the senior warrior whom had been described to him, he padded over with a nod of greeting. "Hey I'm Puddleleap! The new guy." he purred.
The havanna brown jumped slightly when he came up behind her. She had become a little more nervous in her older age, it seemed. She let out a soft chuckle. Get it together, Otter, she chided herself in her head, before smiling. She had an easy smile, despite the tiredness that left a cat's equivalent of bags under her eyes. "Puddleleap the new guy," she greeted him with a flick of her tail. "Well, I'm Ottermystique the old girl." She laughed at her own joke. "Did they tell you why I was picked to lead you around?"
"Were you able to see much of the territory before coming into the camp? How long have you been outside of the kittypet place?"
She then blinked twice. "Er, sorry. You don't have to answer those rapid fire. I guess I get ahead of myself sometimes."
"They told me you are the most knowledgeable and fit for the task." he purred with a small nod of his own approval. She had a sense of humor and seemed agile for a can who claimed to be an "old girl." "I have been out of my kittypet nest for a long while. I actually got locked out when i was young and just wondered away. Spent several moons as a loner and kinda stalked the clans and their activities before I decided to join WaterClan. So Iv'e seen some of it. But not enough for a pop quiz." he joked in return.
She nodded. "I was a kittypet, too. My brother and I just kind of decided one day that we were ready to see the world beyond the garden, I guess. He was the one that convinced me to go," she explained, to try to give him some context as to why she was the girl for the job. "That was about eight seasons ago back when we were only apprentices." She offered him a smile, before shrugging.
"Well, good thing the pop quiz doesn't come until the end of the tour, then," she meowed with a grin, feeling the most her self that hse had in a while. "What brought you to WaterClan in specific out of all of the clans, if you don't mind?" She then asked as they left the camp.
He picked up pace to keep step with her. "The stories. The loners hear the patrols talk from their hiding places and the stories of WaterClan and its rebirth from ruin were inspirational and hopeful. I coudln't imagine joining any other clan." he meowed taking in a deep breath of fresh open forest air.
