Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
"Maybe Violetstar is too weak and cowardly to stand up for herself." A large smoke tabby spoke up, stepping forward. His yellow eyes glossed over the other cats, daring them to rise to his challenge. "Is is such as good idea to let weak cats be the voice of our clan? It's no wonder the other clans openly mock us. They're right after all. I for one am tired of being bossed around by the weak and meek. Waterclan needs a real leader and it's long over due." He kept his tone even yet strong as he spoke. "Other than supposedly betraying his mate, can any of you think of any reason why Riverwolf shouldn't lead us? You talk of honor and loyalty but, turn your back on one of the most honorable and loyal cats Waterclan has ever had because you refuse to accept the truth."
The words met her ears like a sharp claw. Each one of them speaking out, very few defending her leadership. Violetstar could barely speak, her anger had dissolved into nothing hardly, nothing but pain and somewhat fear. The clan she had known so long as hers, her home, her life, the place she had spent so much time reviving because she was told she had to. She’d never asked to be leader. Violetstar had begged StarClan to take her so that she could finish her afterlife with Sandtail and Lavenderkit...
Yet. They had still chosen her for WaterClan’s reviver. The cat whom was to bring them from the rapids.
And here they were.
She wasn’t sure which one hurt worse. The betrayal of her clan, or the betrayal of the cat whose kits she was carrying.
Her eyes locked on Riverwolf, no longer seeing a handsome and respected warrior, but a snake whom had decided to try and usurp her clan. She stalked forward, her nose almost touching his now, her claws flashing out and raking against his face. She’d smacked him hard enough that his head moved to the side, long welts poured blood onto the stone beneat their paws.
The waterfall seemed far away, and for a moment she couldn’t even hear the crowd. “How dare you. StarClan have mercy for the cat you are. I knew you’d never amount to Sandtail, and yet you did what you could to take his place. You’re vile and deserve nothing but to have perished in the sickness yourself. StarClan was wrong to let you live. Letting you live was far too much.”
Violetstar said nothing to the crowd, her eyes glazed over. Inside her belly, the kittens rolled and kicked, feeling the immense stress that their mother felt.
Tempestwind’s ears lowered at the sight of her leader in turmoil, the scarred she cat becoming more worried when Violetstar said nothing to the crowd. For a moment she was thrown back to a time before waterCkan, before the very young not yet Rushingpaw, came to save her and her brothers. Where her mother terrorized her and her siblings leaving them silent and frightened. Parallels to this and that time came now and Tempestwind shook.
“Tell them!” She suddenly cried rising to her paws looking at Violetstar. “Tell them that you are our leader!” Her words were suddenly angry. “You have to step up and clear the doubts! Reiterate why you are leader! Tell them! Tell us!” She shouted. Her words sounding desperate now. It looked like the leader was caving to Riverwolf, brought low by the one close to her. But it hurt, it hurt so much after having left this behind only to come back at Rushingriver’s request when Violetstar became leader. Only to see WaterClan’s leader, not unfit by any of the points made, but instead brought down by the betrayal of her loved ones. it made Tempestwind ill and it both angered and hurt her deeply to see Violetstar fall. The leader was supposed to rise above this! Because if the leader couldn't, then what chance did Tempestwind?
Wyverndelirium looked after his leader sadly, then turned to Tempestwind. "It's too late. She knows she's beaten," he told her softly. "She knows it's over."

Riverwolf's cool demeanor disappeared for a moment as he felt the blood rush from his cheek. Thoughts like banshees screamed in his mind. How dare she! How vile! She will pay for that! She will feel the wrath of god! A growl rose to his throat and he turned to face the clan. "Your leader? You mean the one that would strike out at one of her clanmates instead of facing the truth. The one that just wished I had died in the sickness. Do you not remember the suffering? Do you think this cat is in her right mind to wish that kind of death on someone? Where is your dignity, Violetstar?" He channeled his last question in her direction, a challenge in his eyes and snarl on his lip. "Go ahead and show them. Go ahead and tell them."
"What kind of leader, no matter how upset, would attack her own clanmate and wish that terrible sickness upon them?" Seaflower spoke up once more, baffled at the leader's response.
"Mama, I'm scared. Why did Violetstar attack Riverwolf?" Thunderkit spoke, shrinking into his mother's fur.
A growl bubbled in her chest. Anger coursed through the feline. Her purple eyes glared into the tom’s eyes, before she heard Wyverndelirium’s words. She blinked, and then heard the kit. She felt sick.
Violetstar turned and found herself stumbling back into her den, unable to face the cats whom called her nothing but weak. The cats who turned on her so quickly.
And just like that, she was no longer Violetstar. She’d given up, because... what if it were all true? She wasn’t fit?
Juniperpaw just couldn’t believe it. How did everyone just.... turn against their leader? What happened? Everything happened so fast and Rustyheart still wasn’t better, the young apprentice didn’t know what to do. “V-Violetstar!” She tried to call, her her voice was drowned within the crowd. Golden irises became pools as she couldn’t contain the utter despair she felt. She never felt this before.
Lilypool pulled Thunderkit into her body and held him close, a dark gaze cast upon the molly she once called leader. “Shh, its okay Thunderkit. We have a leader who will protect us now, who won’t hurt his own, like we’ve been waiting for.”
Watching this happen, watching as Riverwolf turned Violetstar's outburst against her, made something snap in Tempestwind. She no longer wanted to be here. She no longer wanted to be part of this farce that was no better than her birth home. Family against family. A leader being lifted up by bringing down his mate, calling her weak as she struggled in her worst time, taking advantage. It made Tempestwind sick. Violetstar lashed out from pain. Pain from the abuse that had been unwarranted, brought on by the betrayal of her mate, and her clanmates snubbed the hurting she cat, as if her getting fed up with her mate's treatment was the height of all evil.
The scarred she cat turned and fled, paws pounding as she ran fleeing the place.
Rushingriver turned startled as Tempestwind took off, then her ears flattened and she turned to her clanmates glaring at them all. Part of her wanted to shout at them for this madness, but she could see it would be meaningless. Besides any more words would be pointless, so instead she hurried after Tempestwind, though she sent a particularly hateful glare at Riverwolf. After she found Tempestwind, she would be thinking hard about what would come next. If this was where WaterClan was heading, she wasn't sure she wanted to be a part of it.
Undertow watched all this go down tail flicking. "I believe that makes it clear, Violetstar is unable to continue as our leader. She has done nothing to alleviate our concerns, answer our questions, and has instead crumbled under pressure and lashed out at one of our own. I believe that speaks for itself." He wrapped his tail around his paws. He was still too new to judge who should be leader, sure it was clear Riverwolf wanted it awfully badly, and was a bit manic in his quest for it. But oh well, let the cat have a taste. Sometimes the best way to deal with trouble was give them a long enough branch to fall off of if they proved careless or foolish enough.
"Riverwolf should be leader." For a moment, cats in the crowd wondered who spoke. Until a tom walked through the crowd, ethereal form slipping through the bodies of the cats within WaterClan. At first, cats might have wondered how this could be, until they recognized the nearly opaque frame of the dusty orange tom, ashen eyes blazing as they had in life. Vulcan. Father of one of their previous leaders, Phoenixriver, and grandfather to the cats such as Rustyheart, Chimerahunt, and Wyverndelirium. Most cats knew his story by now, he'd died on a walk through the territory, and for moons, cats hadn't realized he was even dead until his body was discovered. The elder had simply continued on as if he were living, talking with the clan, making memories and such. StarClan had rejected him in all ways but formality, for the most part, letting him live in WaterClan for the rest of his afterlife, with very limited access to the stars, and no knowledge of prophecy or other important matters reaching his ears.
Now, the tom was fine enough with that. He hadn't been great in life, couldn't really say that when he'd tried to drown on of his own children, but in WaterClan, he hadn't been bad either. For that matter, when the sickness hit, he'd been a huge help, a face to put to the death that ran rampant, soothing fears of what it was like to die. That had earned him some manner of respect within the clan, at least. "Now, I know I didn't grow up in this clan, I wasn't even a part of it that long, but if Riverwolf is willing to step up, who cares? Violetstar obviously isn't challenging him, and my grandson is somewhere, by choice or accident. The worst that happens is this cat gets you all killed, and if things go wrong, you can simply dispose of him like you're doing to Violetstar now before it gets to that point." Though his words didn't exactly support Violetstar's mate by praising his skills, the tom was technically a StarClan cat. Or at the very least, he wasn't a Dark Forest cat. His opinion was as good as any, even if the reality was that he wouldn't have to deal with any of the consequences. He had a front row seat to watch the world burn, if he so wished.
Smokeynight nodded with a grunt, in agreement with Undertow. "Even Violetstar cant think of a reason why she should lead and has shown her true colors." The dark tabby turned his yellow gaze on Juniperpaw, a sneer passing over his features. "Well? Aren't you going to help your new leader? He's clearly hurt." His tone is was icy, and sharp. There clearly was only one right answer he wanted from her and from the gleam on his eyes it was obvious he was daring her to choose wrong.
Bluestream stepped up closer to Riverwolf, almost close enough to brush against him but, she wasn't so brazen to pull anything hers and now. "Are you alright?" She asked quietly. She cast a sharp glare at Violetstar she had stayed quiet this time but, there definitely wasn't going to get away with another strike at Riverwolf.

A smile replaced the look of cold fury on his maw as the clan began to support him. Finally. He was torn away from his thoughts when the ghostly figure of Vulcan appeared. A look of surprise passed over his features. First, at the fact that there was a dead cat just roaming around. Second, because that dead cat supported his cause. Even the dead are on my side. I am the god of Waterclan. Riverwolf nodded to his clan and swept his tail sideways to gather their attention. "Let us vote for who should be the leader of Waterclan. Each member of the clan will vote, including kits. Cast your shells on the left side of the fall if you are for me. Place them on the right for Violetstar." He spoke and gave a nod to Wyverndilirium. "Our deputy will direct you into files."
His attention then turned to Bluestream and he smiled softly. "I am fine. The clan is finally coming to their senses." He responded, his words smooth like honey. "If they choose me, will you support me by my side?"
Bluestream froze, the rest off the world seemed to fade completely out of existence, leaving just her and Riverwolf. It was as if the clouds themselves had parted just to cast down a sun-made spot light on the silver tom. As she looked into his deep brown eyes, her heart started to pour rabidly in her chest and the sound filled her ears drowning out everything else. Pupils dilating until they only left a small ring of blue around them she stared at him in what could only be in complete unadulterated awe. Standing, there mouth ever so slightly agape she had almost forgot to breathe.Tearing up just enough to make her eyes shimmer on the light she began to purr loudly, and in that moment she could of swore she heard their ancestors sing an angelic hymn all the way from Starclan. Yes! Of course I will!" She blurted, having finally regained the ability to speak all at once.
For a moment, the clan hesitated, looking uneasily at one another. Though most knew this vote was necessary, no one wanted to be the first cat to step forward; truly acknowledging how divided Waterclan really was. Luckily for everyone, Yuccablossom didn't really care about any of that. Without missing a beat, the fluffy tortoiseshell trotted over to the falls, picked up a smooth, tan shell, and promptly deposited it on the left, cementing her vote for Riverwolf. Glancing over her shoulder, she could see the rest of her clanmates staring at her, some with smiles and nods of agreement, others with scowls and frowns of disapproval. "It's nothing personal," she admitted, trotting over towards Riverwolf, her feathery tail held high. "No matter the outcome, everything will be alright in the end. But I'd rather have a leader who knows how to command their cats, as my mother did."
Speaking of which, two figures were sitting together at the entrance of the Elder's den, surprisingly silent in spite of the events unfolding in front of them. As soon as Yuccablossom had cast her vote, the pair exchanged a glance with each other and stood up. The first, a well-groomed, blue-grey tom, spent more time deciding which shell to use than deciding where to place his vote. Though anyone who knew Bluepelt well would notice the faint uncertainty in his eyes as he glanced between the left and right sides of the fall, before finally placing his iridescent shell on the left beside his niece's. When he noticed some of the questioning glares from Violetstar's supporters, the elder only shrugged nonchalantly and returned to his den.
Now all eyes were on Gravelshell, formerly known as Gravelstar. Anyone who had been around during her reign was well aware of her strict commitment to the warrior code, but the was contrasted by her allowance of half-clan relationships within Waterclan with only light punishment, as well as her personal belief in a strong leadership as the base of a strong clan. It was, after all, only when she had shown weakness in front of Waterclan that she had stepped down from her position. Yes, all eyes were on her, because most cats were sure her vote could go either way. But only the cats who didn't know her well thought that. There was no hesitation as Gravelshell picked up the first shell she saw, and then set her shell on the right side of the falls, in support for Violetstar. Her ear twitched as she heard several surprised gasps in the crowd, and the former leader turned to face them, her eyes meeting Riverwolf's for a single moment. Though no one else saw it, there was nothing but disdain as she looked at the tom. "Violetstar is my kin, I would never vote against her," she answered simply. "Or have you all so easily forgotten that the true foundation of Waterclan is family? Without that love, this clan will never survive." Before anyone could say another word, Gravelshell disappeared back into her den with her brother.
Wyverndelirium quickly scraped together a pile of shells then stood between the two voting locations, reminding each cat of the difference as they came up to vote.
Coralreef looked at her brother uncertainly. She loved her father and Violetstar, but she had to admit the other cats were very convincing and Violetstar didn't even look like she wanted to be leader anymore. Her plumy tail drooped as she padded foward, looked at her uncle, then slowly nudged her shell into the right. Then she stopped. "Um... the right is... I'm voting for Riverwolf," she mumbled lamely, hoping she had chosen right before she quickly backpedaled with a look of shame.
Juniperpaw looked to Smokeynight with pools of gold. Her body language was obviously that of fear, trying to make herself look small next to Rustyheart's collapsed body. "I.... I have a patient right now I have to look after...." Her voice was meek and frail, looking for anyone to protect her.
Lilypool hesitated as she brought her kits from the nursery to Wyv as they took shells. "Okay my sweets, just put your shells for who you think should lead us." She doubted her kits really understood the situation, thinking that they'd put their shells to the right just as their mother did.

Thunderkit followed his mother and placed his stone to the left, glancing admiringly at Riverwolf. He hoped he would end up that big and strong one day and make his mother proud.
Seaflower followed suit, giving the other cats that had made the same decision a nod of respect before returning to her spot.
Rainpaw narrowed his eyes and watched in disbelief as cats continued to place their stones on Riverwolf's side. How could they abandon Violetstar like that? Head held high, Rainpaw picked up his stone and proudly placed it on the right. "Violetstar was my mentor and a friend to us all. I would never turn my back on her." He growled. There was a bit of shake in his voice that he tried to keep down. What would happen to them now?
Wyverndelirium watched as the rest of the cats voted. Some knew immediately, some wrestled with the decision, but by the end the decision was obvious.
He counted them anyway, just to be sure, flooded with importance. As the acting deputy and perhaps future deputy if Riverwolf won, Wy was pleased to finally be useful for once. Maybe others would see him as a little biased now, but they were wrong, he was just proud. He stood tall and nodded to the clan.
"Riverwolf is the new leader of WaterClan," he declared.
