“Give me the rabbit right now” demanded Melodykit as he glared at his sister. He had been eyeing that rabbit for a while now, and just as he had went to go get it, his sister had snatched it. He left no room for argument, and his paw swiped out to grab it
Dreamingkit laughed right in her brothers face. "You're funny, Melodykit! Don't make me do what I always have to do~" Oh, this was definitely a threat, masked behind a light and sweet voice with lyrical undertones. She was never one to let anyone tell her what to do- nevermind her siblings- and always used whatever leverage she could to get her wants. In this case, her threat was to call their father and tell him that Melodykit was bullying her and stole her rabbit away. With large hazel-brown eyes brimming with tears and a small sniffle every once in a while, it worked every time.
Roaringsun was already watching his kits argue over by the fresh-kill pile. Amber eyes watched closely as the siblings bickered over who had the right to the prey or not. Melodykit, his little clone yet he acted so much like his defiant mother. Dreamingkit, the little mix of her parents who as well inherited her mother's fiery spirit. It was great, in a way, that he constantly had reminders of his love in their little eyes. But it was also a constant reminder of the love he had lost, and would probably never get back.
The kits knew little of their uncle's death. Roaringsun made it a point to never involve his kits into the lives of the rest of the family. They're his burdens, not theirs. Not anymore, at least.

“Go on a tell him then” he replied scrunching up his nose in disgust. Same old sister, same old game. You would think she would get tired of playing the victim “keep calling daddy to fight all your battles for you. He’s not going to be around forever you know, and eventually everyone is going to see through those fake tears of yours” he stuck his tongue out her, and rolled his eyes. “It’s rather pathetic”
"Ohhhh, you've asked for it now, Melodykit." She devious smirk flashed across her tiny patched calico-tabby maw. Soon, the waterworks started, with a sniffling nose and small tears trickling down her face. Turning 360 degrees, she b-lined it for Roaringsun. "DAAADDYYY!!" The small she-kit whined as her father rolled his eyes. "Melodykit was mean to me again! He took my rabbit away and called me pathetic when he wouldn't give it back!" And there it was, the single sniffle she needed that made Roaringsun grunt as he rose from his spot in front of the nursery.
"Melodykit, you need to give your sister her rabbit back." He sighed deeply as he scolded his son. "She took it first. If you want a rabbit, I can go catch you one right now, just gotta be patient. Or, maybe go and get another rabbit. It's not like our stock is running out of them any time soon. Okay, bud?" While Dreamingkit held her chest puffed out in success, she was no exempt from her fathers scolding as well. "And as for you, Dreamingkit," he turned his head towards his daughter, "Melodykit is right. You need to learn to fight your own fights and stand up for yourself. Next time he takes your food, take it back from him and walk away."

As if on cue, the waterworks started and she went running off to daddy just like he knew she would. Instead of waiting around for the scolding he knew was coming, he tore of a leg and began eating. It was his favorite part, and by the time she returned with their father he had already finished what he wanted. Playing his own part he looked at the ground while his fath scolded, and used a paw to push what was left towards his sister “there you can have it” he stood, a smirk appearing on his face with his back turned to roaring sun so that their father couldn’t see.
Dreamingkit. Was. Seething. That was her rabbit! How dare he take it away from her like that! Right as Roaringsun started his slow pace back to his resting spot, Dreamingkit rushed her brother and rammed into him head-on. She pushed him to the ground and pinned him with tiny claws as deep into his shoulder as they could go- which really, wasn't much. "YOU GO GET ME A NEW RABBIT RIGHT NOW MELODYKIT!" She spat in his face, tail lashing wildly in anger.
While it wasn't the right reaction, Roaringsun couldn't help but roll his eyes and sigh again. "Okay, Dreamingkit, that's enough now." He trotted back to his kits and plucked the small calico-tabby off her brother, slightly raising Melodykit in the air as her claws stayed hooked into his shoulders before she released- a loud thump! as he fell from her grasp. Despite being carried away into a time-out, she had the biggest grin on her face. Roaringsun sat her down in a corner of the nursery and picked a rabbit for her, tossing it in front of her face before going back to check on his son. "You alright bud? Do you need me to bring you to Cinnamonpaw or Mistyveil?" His voice reeked of exhaustion and a hint of distress.

I phased by the pain, he looked up and started laughing on her face. Did it hurt? Yes. But the angry look on her face made the whole thing worth it. He likes to push her buttons and it finally had made her snap. “Aww little dreamkit has itty bitty claws” he teased as their father lifted her from him. He continued to belly laugh as he got to his paws, blood oozing from the wounds on his shoulder “don’t worry dad, a little blood never hurt no body. It’s kind of cute when she is mad!”
Roaringsun shook his head. "You can't go about life just making others mad, son. It's gonna get you in some big trouble one day." The way Dreamingkit rushed into Melodykit really brought Roaringsun back. Back to the day where his world turned upside down- the day he found out his kits were being developed. The way Diesdrè rushed into his life and made a permanent mark in the form of their kits. And as much as he tried to push it down and away, they were always there, reminding him of his mistakes and what he'll never get to feel again.
He was falling in love with Diesdrè more and more every day that he looked into their kits eyes and saw her.
"Hey, come on, let's get you a good snack and those shoulders all wrapped up, okay?"

“Humph” he replied like it was a more of a burden to go with his dad than a treat. “Why don’t you take her? She is the one crying over lost rabbit. I have already ate my fill” he laid down, his tail flicking lazily back and forth.
He sighed. “Oh, come now, Melodykit. You don’t want to spend some time with your old man?” The thought that his own kit, the only son he had in WinterClan, didn’t want to spend time with him admittedly made him upset. Upset, yet not surprised, though. “.....Alright.” He sounded defeated.

"I'd rather lay in the sun and catch up on some sleep" he replied closing his eyes for a moment, before finally sighing and slowly getting to his paws "But if it will make you happy I'll tag along" The little tom didn't look very enthusiastic, but the fact that he was even considering his fathers feelings was a big step for him. He normally only focused on what HE wanted, he didn't care what it did to others.
A small smile formed across his maw. "Thanks, son." He said as he turned and started slowly out of camp, keeping Melodykit no more than a tails-length away.

A little grumble escaped his lips, but he reluctantly followed his father. He didn't understand why all the kits were so excited to get out of WInterClan's camp. It was the safest place to be, and besides there was plenty to explore.
Once they were out far enough from camp, the fathers pace slowed so that he could walk side by side with his kit. Melodykit was about apprentice age by now, being promoted in this next ceremonies, and already a massive figure. He really did take so much after his father with deep ginger fur and large WinterClan frame, etc his eyes were much like Dreamingkit’s; a hazel mix of both Roaringsun’s amber and Diesdrè’s blue. Roaringsun smiled. Melodykit would make for a fine student and soldier if he just had the drive for it. Yet, Roaringsun wasn’t much to talk about drive, was he.
“I’m going to be leaving WinterClan soon.” It was unprompted, uncalled for.
Melodykit looked up at him, eyes widened. Why? Why would he be leaving? His thoughts began to swirl around in his mind, not sure what to make of all this "It's because of HER, isn't it?" he questioned. Roaringsun and mentioned their mother before, but he didn't know a lot about her. Just that she had left him and his siblings here, while taking some of their siblings back with her.
Roaringsun sighed deeply. “There’s a lot more that goes into it than just her, Melodykit.” He looked to the mountains in the distance, the ones that claimed so many lives. The lives of his own kin. He winced lightly.
“Uncle Wolfpaw was a great tom, did you know that?”
He shrugged "sure. That's what they all say about him, but they say the same about every cat after the die. I didn't know him when he was alive, so I don't presume to know him now that he is gone" he didn't really understand the switch in conversation, but he tried to wait for his father to explain
