Mars tried to take a little time out of every day to visit his family in Post Kilo. He hated leaving Momi to worry about him, especially since he had just recovered for the sickness that had taken his first life. He knew if he stayed away too long, she was going to worry about him. He had just slipped into Post Kilo and had a bit of honeycomb he had managed to sneak out of the garden when he thought his brother wasn't looking. He had often done this for Jasmine, Basil, and Coriander when they were younger as well.
He stopped when he came to Momi's nest and placed the honeycomb down at his paws. "I'm sorry I'm a little late. Today was a bit busy." Of course everyday had been busy since the Regime had captured Foxstar but he didn't want to say as much.

Momi did worry for him often. Ever since he lost his first life, she felt the need to protect him even though he was fully capable of handling himself. If anything ever happened to him and he was no longer in their lives? The question was simply unbearable to think about. However, the white origin was more hopeful than ever. With Foxstar captured, she hoped that no more harm would come to their family and groupmates. In the back of her mind, she knew her hopes were a little too high, but it was better than fretting over the future.
As Mars entered Post Kilo, a bright smile lit up her features. Purring heavily, she gave his cheek a nudge before poking each of the kits with her nose. "Look who is here!" She meowed cheerily before turning her attention back to her mate. "That is alright. I see you've been doing some sneaking around." Humor and warmth made her whiskers twitch and reflected in her soft voice as she gave a nod to the honeycomb.
"Daddy!" The little chirp of Rose-tyke sounded next and she quickly hopped up from her sleeping position. The sudden movement made her sway back and forth and nearly topple over as her little legs scampered over to him. "You're back!"

A big smile appeared on the commander's face as he heard Rose-tyke. He spotted Opal-tyke scrambling to sit up beside her sister. "You brought a present!" Opal-tyke had already spotted the honeycomb that her father had brought for her and her siblings. As Mars placed it near her and her siblings she eagerly began to lap up the sweet and tasty treat.
"I honestly don't think Apollo will miss it. He's always so absorbed in his work and it is much easier to get it from the guiders than to go out and collect it." Of course he would do either, but he preferred to get it from the guiders as that didn't involve a swarm of angry bees. "But anyway, how are you feeling? I'm sure you and Venus have your paws full most of the time." He came to help when he could, but most of the time he just ended up playing with the tykes and he wasn't sure how much help that was to his mate and his sister.
Zion-tyke waddled over to his father, he always seemed to have so much fur blocking his shamrock green gaze. He let out a snort and tilted his head up to remove some of the hair in front of his eyes and revealing one bright and cheery eye. He gave his dad a big grin and bolted over to him in a tackle hug all the while yelling, "DAAAAAAAD!"
Before landing into him with an oomph.
"Are you gonna take us mouse hunting? I think it's so cool you get to know how to hunt and fight. I wish I could choose both because choosings hard."
Mars laughed as he looked down at Zion-tyke. "I'm not sure how your mother would feel about taking you mouse hunting just yet, but one day maybe you can learn to hunt and fight. You would have to become the commander though." He knew it was a dream that many tykes had, but it was not a bad one to have. It made better soldiers in the end. He didn't quite understand the difficulty of choosing because he had always known what he wanted to be and had worked towards it continuously. He would probably take the time to bring his tykes to the surface soon though. He knew it had to get boring being stuck in Post Kilo all the time.
"Easy, I'll just become commander then," Zion-tyke grinned.
He blew at a long tuft of fur that always seemed to cover his eyes, but it barely went up for a moment before collapsing over his eyes again. He let out a mischievous grin, "C'mon dad, I want to go somewhere! How am I going to be a great commander like you if I don't get a head start and see things? Plus what's going to happen to me in a tunnel? I get lost? I'll just stay by you, everyone can see me easily!"
His white tail gestured to himself as though to show off his white fur that currently was dominated by dusty brown dirt from playing.

"Ah, our tykes aren't near as troublesome as Venus' lot." She purred, clearly joking. Momi let out a little snort of amusement at Zion-tyke's pleads. "You know it is too dangerous out in the tunnels." She told him softly, stroking her smooth white tail down his back. He was almost a carbon copy of her but with Mars' eyes. Her only son. She loved each of her kits equally and fiercely, but Zion-tyke was incredibly special. He almost reminded her of her own father.
Rose-tyke let out a long sigh after taking a few nibbles at the honeycomb. "This is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good." She purred in a daze. If there could be physical hearts in her eyes, there would be.
Zion-tyke groaned, "Yes, mother, of course, it's so fun to only be in one part of the tunnels for moons, that's why prisoners enjoy it so much."
He perked up at the sudden idea of honeycomb, his sister seemed like she was enjoying it a lot, "Hey, gimme some of dat too!" He squeaked as he walked over to Rose-tyke's side.

Momi rolled her eyes at Zion-tyke's words before turning back to Mars. "Do you think it's safe enough to take them through the tunnels?" She whispered softly, peering over at the three squabbling kits. "Maybe it'll get rid of some of that restlessness."
Rose-tyke pushed her brother back with her front paws. "Noooo, it's ours." She growled playfully, narrowing her eyes and wagging her rump. "You'll have to get through us before you can steal our prey!"
"Well...." Mars made a show out of debating whether or not he would say yes. He put on a really thoughtful look as he looked at Zion-tyke and the others. After a few moments he smiled. "I suppose it wouldn't hurt, but you have to stay close and listen to everything you are told." This was important since he knew some of the soldiers might not appreciate having tykes underfoot.

Shae, who had been watching Rose and Zion squabble over the honeycomb she had yet to taste perked up, at her father's words. "Really? We can go into the tunnels!?" The little she-tyke gave a little bounce of excitement as she hopped around between her father's paws, unable to contain herself.
"Who the heck is us? Your imaginary boyfriend?" Zion-tyke asked, his grin intensifying until looking up at his father with consideration, "Dad, you know I don't like to follow orders. Except from you, let's go!"
Zion-tyke sped off, but steered to a stop at the entrance. He moved paw to paw waiting for his family to catch up, "Though um. What is in the tunnels that's dangerous? Do we have to worry about badgers? I don't know if I'm ready for a badger, not that I'm scared, I'm just worried for my sisters," He quickly reassured.
"No, us means Rose-tyke and I!" Opal stood proudly beside her sister now, a playful growl sounding in her throat. She was distracted only a moment later when their father agreed to let them explore the tunnels as long as they stayed with him. At that point she was close behind Zion-tyke, leaving her sisters behind in her excitement. Mars just shook his head and chuckled. He glanced over at Momi. "Will you be coming with us?" In response to Zion-tyke he just shook his head. "The tunnels aren't dangerous at all. There are soldiers at work in the tunnels though and we will have to be careful not to get under their paws. That is one of the biggest reasons tykes are not allowed outside of Post Kilo." Honestly, there was always the danger of a tunnel collapse, but he knew better than to frighten tykes with such stories.

Momi let out a small laugh as she realized her and Mars had said the exact opposite thing. Leave it to him to encourage them without knowing. Honestly, she did worry too often about another Sunclan raid. She followed after them with Rose-tyke on her heels. "Can we work with the soldiers? That sounds like more fun than sitting around the Nursery all day." She huffed, peering around curiously as they left the familiarity of Post Kilo.
Mars shook his head and let out a small chuckle. "Tykes aren't allowed to help with official duties. You can help best by staying out from under their paws. We can have a look around, but we cannot disturb the soldiers." His green eyed gaze swept around to include all four of his tykes. "Now, are we ready to go?"
"Yup!" Zion-tyke said with his tail raised high in the air.
He prepared for this moment his entire life, that he'd see the tunnels and land that he'd spend the rest of his life, but soon he began to wonder if other cats would like him. What if he wasn't what they expected out of Commander Mars son? If the Regime didn't like him would his dad no longer like him either? What would make his mom and dad not like him anymore? If he didn't like the tunnels would they hate him or maybe if he failed being a cadet they'd hate him? Suddenly all the thoughts he never even imagined being concerned about before began to swirl in his mind. He decided to stay close to his dads legs. Maybe if he gave his dad enough big smiles he'd ever forget why he loved him. After all, even if Post Kilo was secluded, he'd heard wind of plenty of stories when the origins and raisers thought the tykes were napping. Stories of commanders sons turning villain, he didn't know what that meant, but it concerned him.

Rose-tyke was bummed at first. Her tail drooped slightly and she let out a snort. Why were the adult cats so lame? However, she perked up once her father mentioned going. "Yeah! I'm more than ready!" She purred, hopping from paw to paw and accidentally bumping into Zion-tyke a few times.
