Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
With wide eyes, Darkwily crouched low and moved slowly. Crowfood littered the water; the fox just tore at a rabbit. It seemed that small bites had been taken out and then just left to rot. He twitched his tail for Poisonrush to observe as well.
Poisonrush was disgusted. Why would anything do something this? He continued to scan the ground as more crowded scent flooded his nose. Just up ahead, there was another riddled rabbit corpse just like the one Darkwily noticed earlier.
He started to pad away. When they were far enough to speak, he asked Poisonrush what he thought. "What do you think it's doing?" he asked. It couldn't be farming for its kits, as all the prey there was riddled with rot.
He shrugged. "I have no idea. This is odd behavior," he replied. He sat down, his tail flicking in deep thought. "Foxes aren't the type to kill just for sport." He looked back the way they came from. What could it be?
He grunted. "We'll report it back to Thrushstar. Perhaps he knows. We can create a patrol to scare it off." he said slowly. Would he want to be apart of that patrol?
He nodded. "That would be a good idea," he responded. He rose to his paws and started off towards camp. "Would you mind coming out on patrol if that's the plan of action," he asked looking over his shoulder.
He didn't expect to have to this decision so quickly! "I-i'm.. not sure," he said quietly. "If there is room for me. I don't want to leave the camp unguarded. And if this fox is as crazy as I think it is, we'll need a few warriors."
He nodded, but he was suspicious of the response. "That is true," he said stopping and turning around. "Are you okay?" he asked curiously. Ever since they figured out the scent, Darkwily seemed...nervous? On edge?
He didn't mean to have anger in his voice when he replied. "It's a fox throwing away prey -- abnormal fox behavior. How do you think I feel?" he said with a spit. He really didn't mean to be angry towards Poisonrush, however, he let emotions get the best of him. "I'm sorry," he said, his head hung low. He has never told anyone about his family nor his past, and he didn't plan on changing that. But his clanmate had the right to ask if he felt alright for the mission at hand. "I had bad experiences with foxes, and it scares the dirt out of me the way it's acting."
His face softened. "I can understand that," he responded, "but you can trust your clanmates." He sat down, wrapping his tail around him. "I'm sure you have your reasons for how you feel, but dont be afraid. We'll drive it off and, if it comes back, we'll kill it." He gave the tom a reassuring smile. "Trust me."
He stopped and looked at the tom. He appreciated the comforting words. For a moment, he absorbed his surrounds. The soft wind brought with it sounds of the forest: swishing of fronds, the pitter patter of mice, and few birds squawking a ways away. FallClan was him home. He trusted his clanmates more than anyone. Then again, he didn't have anyone else. It angered him more that the fox threatened their peace than what had happened to his family. He wasn't sure why; perhaps those memories were far too long ago to feel sadness towards them. He decided that it was no longer a burden for him to hold the guilt of his family. He had a new family now. Although he would never forget his mother and littermates, it was time for him to move on. He had a new reason to run the fox away, a much larger reason.
"You're right," he said with a smile. Thrushstar would tell them what to do, they'd gather a patrol, and they would scare the fox away.
He nodded and rose to his feet again. "Now let's head back and report what we've found to Thrushstar. I'm sure this will get top priority and we can have this problem resolved in no time." He wouldnt be lying to himself if he wasnt a little afraid of this situation. To have something killing prey and letting it rot was it's own problem but for the cause to be a fox made it much more worse. In the back of his mind, he hoped they will sort this out sooner than later.

Bonemaiden dropped her prey on the fresh-kill pile before grabbing a piece for herself. It had been a calm day, so the warrior was feeling more relaxed than she usually was. Her gun-metal eyes scanned the camp for a patch of sun. Once she found one, she made her way towards it and settled down to eat.
(that's perfect! They are about to enter the camp.)
Darkwily nodded and started to pad back towards the camp. Unknowingly, the warriors shared the same fear: what was the fox doing?
When they reached the camp, waves of worry rushed off the warrior. He trotted quickly to Thrushstar's den. A small mew announced himself at the entrance of his leader's den. "Enter," a hort meow replied. Thrushstar lay in his moss bed, somewhat disheveled. He had just woken at the sound of a soft meow. "Darkwily, Poisonrush. What is it?" he asked, his eyes shining.
Poisonrush entered and dipped his head respectfully to the clan leader. "While Darkwily and I were out hunting, we came across crowfood near the Broken Bridge. They didnt die from natural causes but rather being killed and left to rot by a...," he hesitated for a moment, the memories of the decaying flesh and smell flashing through his mind "...a fox. If it's crazy enough to kill indiscriminately, we believe that it may pose a great threat to us and should be eliminated as soon as possible." Poisonrush looked to Thrushstar for his reply.
Thrushstar's eyes widened. He had only seen something like this once before in his entire life. "Very odd," he said, standing to wash. He was so afraid of it when he was a rogue, and now, here it was happening as he was leader of a Clan. He had much more to protect than himself now. He ran his tongue across his body slowly, in thought.
"Thrushstar?" Darkwily asked. It had been some time since the leader had said anything else.
The cream and orange tom glared his eyes at Darkwily. "I'm thinking. Give me a moment." He was trying to remember when he was much younger and had seen this in the wild. He was more of a loner than a rogue, and many cats were staying in the same area he had been. When he asked about the way the foxes were acting during the summer, their answer shocked him. "When I was a loner before I came to FallClan, I had seen something like this before. Nearly the same exact circumstance.. a fox killing for sport," he said slowly. He watched the warriors eyes grow wide as he continued. "In the summer, if a male does not find a mate in enough time, they have no desire to make shelter. Therefore, the sun kind of.. fries their brain."

Bonemaiden's ears pricked as the two warriors entered the camp and made their way to Thrushstar's den in a hurry. Well, there went their peaceful day... Her eyes narrowed as she watched them enter. What could have them so frazzled?
Poisonrush's tail flicked in thought. "I suppose that makes sense," he commented. If Thruststar has seen something like this before, he should be able to give them a solution to carry out. "How was it dealt with the last time?" Unless the last case, given time, died of natural causes or got killed off by a bigger predator, it was still out there killing whatever it can.
Thrushstar thought for a moment. "It was weak enough that we were able to kill it. However the next one that came wasn't, and it was a few moons before we were able to do anything about it.." he said, looking down at this paws, once again deep in his own thoughts.
Darkwily widened his eyes. "So what are we going to do?" he asked wildly. Panic was starting to rise to his chest again.
Thrushstar looked at the warrior. He didn't seem fit to do anything about it this moment. "Are you doubting me, the strength of our clan?" he asked, and edge to his voice. He calmed with a swipe of his tail across his own paws. "I understand if you may have misgivings of your own strength; however, do not doubt the strength of FallClan when together," he finished, and stood to pad out of the den. "We will go on patrol to see its state of mind. I must see it for myself. Then, we shall come back to camp and make a plan." when he reached the center of camp, he turned to Darkwily. "You will join us on the attack. You can stay here and guard the camp while we check it out." he said sternly.
Poisonrush nodded. "Will it just be us going on or shall I go gather others?" he asked. He didnt think others should be going; the smaller the party, the better, but it never hurt to ask. Poisonrush looked over to Darkwily and nodded once. He figured that he would want to stay in the camp to be as far away from harm's way.
