Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
"Don't worry...I think dad will understand" Dovekit mumbled, hoping she was right.
Smokecloud scraped the ground with his paw, "I hate to inform you that Shiningkit got into something in my den a few moments ago" He wasn't exactly how to tell the leader, even though he was comfortable around him. "It was kind of my fault. I instructed them to take something to my den. I thought I could trust them not to eat anything. I came in to find Shiningkit had eaten a death berry. I managed to get it out of her system. She will be fine but I thought you should know."
Cardinalstar froze for a few seconds, fear was his initial feeling but it faded rather quickly once Smokecloud told him Shiningkit was going to be fine. "It's not your fault, Smokecloud. They're old enough to know better than to eat something out of your den. Thank you for telling me. I'll have a word with them about touching things they're not supposed to." He said, gulping down the last of his mouse, he glanced in the direction of the nursery and rose to his paws, heading in that direction.
___
"Uh oh." Shiningkit whispered so quietly it was barely audible. Their father was on his way over to the nursery and he didn't looked too thrilled. He didn't look super angry either. Just disappointed, which was almost worse than being angry.
Cardinalstar entered the nursery and stood in front of his daughters. "What were you two thinking? Shiningkit could have died." he asked, his voice even but his tone was disappointed. But he was internally relieved to see that Shiningkit was okay and didn't look too ill. But they had to learn that they couldn't eat things they found laying around in the medicine den.
____
"I'm so sorry! I wasn't thinking. I won't ever do that again." Shiningkit said miserably.
"Yeah... but I was dumb enough to actually eat it..." Shiningkit said quietly.
_____
Cardinalstar sighed. "I don't care who's idea it was. I'm just glad everyone's okay. But understand that was not a smart thing to do. You're lucky Smokecloud was there as quickly as he was. If he wasn't thing could have ended very differently. Do you understand?" Cardinalstar asked, glancing between his kits. He didn't want to beat them up too much over it, Shiningkit getting sick was scary enough on all of them and was more than enough to teach the lesson.
"I won't ever take anything from Smokecloud's den unless he gives it to me, himself!" Shiningkit declared.
___
"Alright. I believe you." Cardinalstar said, nosing each kit affectionately. "But I do have to tell your mother. Try not to get into anymore trouble today." he said, rising to his paws and leaving the nursery.
"Maybe father will calm her down and she won't be angry." Shiningkit said, hanging onto a small piece of hope that they wouldn't be in trouble with mother.
Dovekit was right, when they were living outside of SpringClan territory life was stressful and in Shiningkit's mind, everyone overreacted to everything. But since the Clan had somewhat returned to normal everyone had slowly started to go back to their relaxed selves or so Shiningkit thought. "Well, let's just hope she doesn't over react. I mean I didn't die." she said pressing closer to her sister.
"But you could have!" Dovekit began to panic again, wriggling closer to her sister. "I'm so sorry I made you eat that berry" she whispered, burying her muzzle into Shiningkit's fur. She could have easily lost her sister today and that thought scared her.
"You didn't make me eat it. I could have said no. But it looked so appetizing! Why would something so deadly look so yummy?" she asked, distantly, she couldn't see their mother anywhere in the camp currently... maybe she was out on a patrol or a walk to stretch her legs and maybe by the time she returned their father would have forgotten all about the incident, although unlikely, Shiningkit held onto that hope.
