Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
The lean ginger tom curled up on the thick layer of moss covering the rocks at the top of the waterfall and lay his chin down on the wet stone, staring over the edge. He was alone, in one of the rare moods where he felt more hollow than anything -- not upset, barely stressed, just a heavy calm before the storm. His half gaze traced the flashes of color in the territory below of his clanmates, catching hints of ginger and brown and blue pelts as his clan went about their duties, and he absently watched them from his perch alone above the world.
Chim chuckled, then, a rough and forced sound. "What a sorry sight you must be," he muttered to himself. He grimaced, enjoying the peace of being alone, before he grunted and shoved himself back onto his paws. Even he could only wallow for so long before he admitted how ridiculous and pointless it felt.
"Not the worst I've seen." A voice answered his quiet monologue, sharp and standoffish, though less hostile than it would have been before the sickness hit. Rustyheart didn't make it a habit to hang around others much, even her family, though she had her reasons. Even so, she'd found she could understand her older brother somewhat. She understood his desire to be left alone, to push away everyone who meant anything to him. They weren't the same, not by far, yet she couldn't deny that if nothing else she respected him for daring to stay during the ripplecough outbreak, believed that Violetstar had been wise to give him the chance and make him deputy. Not that she'd explicitly said so, outside of the day of his promotion.
"Yeah? You need to find better friends, Rustyheart." Chim glanced back at her, wary. He had never spent much time with his younger siblings, and yet she had stuck up for him when nobody else would. He appreciated that even if he didn't fully understand why: he certainly would not have picked himself for the next deputy. Someone sensible and strong like Riverwolf would have been his first choice, though the tom made his fur crawl. He turned fully to face her and tilted his head slightly. "'Suppose I should be grateful you found me and not someone else."
