He had not been in the Regime for long and honestly, he still wasn't sure what to think of it. This place was so different from his old home in DayClan. He had been welcomed with open arms however. He was the son of Shule in their eyes and so that meant he had a place in the Regime. While he didn't see Shule as his mother, he knew that she was biologically. That was why he was here. He had to figure out where he truly belonged. This was where he had been born and where he should have been raised. Did that mean this was where he belonged or was his place in DayClan? Everything was still so confusing. He even had a new name to fit his place in the Regime. He had refused his birth name however. That was not who he was. Instead he had taken the name Serenity which was closer to the name that Glowstar had given him. The young tom sighed quietly. Would anything ever make sense?

Laurel knew what it felt like to be an outsider in your own home, but not to the depth that this soul did. She watched the young tom with a slight frown and sympathy glittering in her cocoa eyes. Laurel was the daughter of Sean and Abiliana, so this young cat and his siblings were technically her half-siblings. At one point in her life she had felt bitterness towards Shule. Sean clearly loved her more than he loved Laurel's deceased mother. Her heart ached as she remembered the conversation with her father that changed her viewpoint on Shule. She still felt like an outsider to her parents sometimes, but she could not forget her father's love for her. She also used to be not so alone. Before, it was her and Plumamine, but her sister's death came like a scratch across the face. Now, she had another sibling to watch and protect. Laurel stamped a paw down, silently vowing to stand by Serenity's side the way she did her sister. "Come along, Cadet Loring." She purred to her son who was trying to pry a mouse out of hiding nearby. "We have someone to love."
"Hello there, Serenity." Laurel greeted Cadet Serenity as she trotted up to the cadet. She figured she would let him get used to his Regime name before adding on the "Cadet" part. Not to mention, she wanted him to feel comfortable. "How are you faring in the Regime so far?"
The young tom actually jumped at the sound of Laurel's voice. He had not been expecting anyone else to speak to him honestly. He had just taken a moment to get something to eat before he went to join the other Mercenary Cadets. "Oh um...I am doing well I guess." He turned to study his paws. While he had sounded so confident when he was leaving DayClan, he was actually quite shy now that he had made it to the Regime. Everything was different and he didn't know anyone or have any friends to spend time with. He had come here to learn of his origins though so he had to stay here for a little while at least.

Laurel gave him a look that said she didn't believe him, but decided not to press it. Her eyes glanced around the post and she let out a little sigh. Evidence of the recent battle with Sunclan hung on the coats of many of their groupmates. She wished the world was not so cruel, especially for Serenity and Zaisra. "Do you know who I am?" She asked, suddenly brightening up. The swirled she-cat was determined to help him feel at home here in the Regime.
Loring remained quiet as he listened to his mother try and reach the other cadet. His eyes shifted over to Serenity and he gave a small, encouraging smile.
"Well...No. Should I?" He honestly had no idea who this she cat was. He had been told that he had a lot of relitives apparently. Commander Mars was his cousin, His birth mother was the scout Superior, his aunt was the chaman and apparently another of his cousins just had a ton of kits in Post Kilo. He was struggling to keep up with all of the information he was now being presented with. "Are...Are you another one of my relatives?" He was beginning to think that everyone in the Regime was related one way or another honestly.

Laurel let out a little laugh and shook her head. "No, you are still adjusting to living here. I'm sure you've already learned that you have quite a large family in these tunnels." She answered with an amused twitch of her whiskers. She couldn't imagine the thoughts running through the young tom's mind as he learned more and more about the Regime. They must seem very strange to him. "I'm your half-sister. My name is Laurel. And not to make your life more confusing, this is your nephew, Loring." She purred, whisking her tail in the direction of the shy tom beside her. Cadet Loring gave the other cadet a small, cheeky smile at his mother's words. He was a bit older than Serenity, so it was a bit strange.
So he had other siblings? He supposed it wasn't all that surprising, but he still wasn't sure what to think. He didn't even know his full family history and yet he was expected to function in this new environment? He just wasn't sure what to think. "Honestly, I don't think there is much you could do to make my life any more confusing." They had absolutely no idea about the confusing upbringing he had thanks to SunClan and MoonClan. It was part of the reason he had come to the Regime in the first place. This was really the only place he could find his true self away from the confusion that staying in DayClan would have brought.

"Well then. How about we help it make a little more sense?" Laurel offered, suddenly feeling like her excitement to have another sibling may have hurt him more. "Have you been able to explore and learn the ranks of the Regime yet? We can show you around and introduce you to some of the others." Her voice was gentle as she gave her suggestion. Silently, she prayed to the Blind Protector that he would agree. She knew that the tunnels could be a lonely place when you had no one to share them with. "I know the Regime probably seems different, confusing, and just a little much right now... but I hope you will come to like life here. If there is ever anything you need, please talk to us."
"Well..." Honestly he wasn't so sure he wanted to go with her. He did need to learn more about his new home though. He knew a few basics and knew that he was supposed to answer to the Head Mercenary Cadet and his mother, but he couldn't quite remember who the head mercenary cadet was. All of these new names were confusing. Maybe it wouldn't hurt for him to go with them and learn a bit more about his new home and the cats that called these tunnels home. "I suppose it wouldn't hurt to go with you for a little bit..." He wasn't training at the moment anyway so this would be a good way to pass the time.

Her whiskers twitched in excitement as he agreed to join them, but she attempted to contain it. She couldn't imagine what he was feeling at that moment. Honestly, she figured he thought they were weirdos. They were strangers claiming to be his relatives and trying to understand his situation. Her eyes flicked to Loring and he returned a smile in her direction. The young tom was closer to Serenity's age, so she hoped he would make him more comfortable. "Loring. Since you are a cadet, why don't you lead the way? It would be good to see how your knowledge of the Regime is coming along." She purred with a wink.
Loring let out a laugh at his mother's reasoning and attempts to make the situation less awkward. She was like Sean in that way. Turning his attention to the other tom, he flicked his tail. "Alright then. Follow me."
Serenity followed but kept his gaze trained on his paws. He still wasn't sure how or what to feel but his curiosity was pushing him forward. He gave Loring and Laurel an unsure look before training his gaze down on his paws.
