Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Whispers floated through the group's camp, voices dying in the throats of the others merely by her presence. Cats silently shifted loyalties, questioning everything about Solaris' reign, and they only appeared to grow louder by the day. Thus far, the Proxy had to say he'd done a spectacularly terrible job at stifling the rumors that had begun to circulate. But that, of course, was only her opinion, which didn't really matter. Not that she really cared what happened either way.
She sat herself comfortably at the edge of the Hollow's first floor, setting down the mouse in her jaws and lazily batting at it for a few moments, much like a twoleg child who wasn't particularly hungry picking at it's meal. Senescence was bored, as per usual, though one might think otherwise, given her particularly eventful past few days. She even brought four new kits to the League, though technically they'd already been on the territory, just hidden below the Badlands.
Solaris E'tan had the uncanny habit of appearing when he was least expected, and the brawny ginger tom appeared from behind a few sand boulders now. He spotted Senescence and altered his course to approach her, head tilted in an inquisitive posture. "Good morning Senescence." He murmured, addressing the Proxy he knew so little about. Perhaps she had been an impulse choice, made out of necessity, but there was something about her that caught his attention.
Besides, the pressure on his shoulders had been mounting, and he wanted a break.
There wasn't really much about Senescence that was hard to find. Everything from her family to her time in the League could be more or less accounted for, either by her relatives, or the rare few older members of the League, like Innocentia. She wasn't all too interesting either. Made it to Proxy twice, well three times, now, not that this was unusual for her family, many of whom had held positions in or out of Primal Instinct. The most notable things about her, perhaps, were her collection, made up of various trinkets she'd taken off those she'd killed, and her past in between the time she'd disappeared from the League as a kit, and when she'd returned as an adult, a few years ago, shrouded in mystery still.
Despite interesting tidbits, the scarred feline herself wasn't much to speak of. She kept to herself to the point she could disappear for days on end at times without a trace, and could usually be found either lazing about somewhere, or doing something infinitely dangerous if not downright suicidal, like standing on brittle branches during a storm, or walking the cliffs, toeing the line between life and death.
Glancing up briefly from her prey, and observing the Nemesis with her good eye, the rust and shadow feline was quick to concentrate her gaze elsewhere, as though the tom didn't particularly catch her interest. Of course, her disinterested gaze said as much. "To what do I owe the honor?" Senescence questioned, her tone bored.
"An honor? I believe it's merely a coincidence that we should run into each other out here." Solaris E'tan responded, with a shrug of his hefty shoulders. Senescence didn't seem to present much of a threat- she was removed enough to merely be a witness to the turmoil of the League, not an active participant. Still, he wondered if she would ever be swayed to a side, or whether she would side with the winner out of self-preservation. He didn't know enough to say.
"I heard about the kits you brought to the League. I did want to know more about where you found them, and why you think they were there."

"You missed the implied sarcasm." She stated. It would be an odd day if Senescence showed any real sort of respect to anyone, Solaris included. "I'm not sure what you want to know that you don't already. I found them while exploring a tunnel in the Badlands. No idea why their mother brought them there, of all places. She clearly abused them, killed one, and probably would have finished off the rest if I hadn't shown up and decided to have a heart for once." Despite her deadpan tone, that too was a more or less sarcastic comment. The Proxy couldn't care less about the kits, and really had no motive other than boredom to have done anything at all. "Blah, blah, blah, I tore their mother apart and at least one of them seems to think I'm a demon." She twirled her paw dismissively in the air to accentuate her words.
"I might think the same, if I had seen what they saw." Solaris shrugged a shoulder, listening to her summary of the event. "What you did was a good thing, even if the intention wasn't there. The League needs more younglings, to lead to more Hunters and Trainees when we return to our home territory." Thinking of the trek home left Solaris feeling uneasy- with so much tension currently, he couldn't focus his efforts on sending a patrol to survey their old territory. The prey on the island had been decreased by their presence here, and they would sap the resource dry if they didn't leave within the next few moons.

"Save the sappy stuff for when they make it to adulthood. Aconite apparently thinks I'm their honorary mother, meaning they'll probably be dead in a moon anyway." She shrugged, as though talking of getting four young cats killed was natural to her. Maybe it was. "As for the territory, have you even sent anyone to check it out yet?" Morgana had taken a look around while she gathered the herbs there, and Senescence had visited once or twice, but she was more talking about anyone seeing if the prey had returned to normal. For that matter, had anyone investigated what caused the sickness in the first place? Admittedly, the Proxy wanted to leave the island. It was incredibly boring. And when she got bored, things tended to get dangerous. Mostly for herself and those she could manage to drag along somewhere.
"Not yet." Solaris E'tan admitted with a sigh, his half-ear flicking back in discomfort. "I've wanted to, and tried to arrange it. But as you know, there's just a lot happening at the moment. As soon as this blows over-" He still prayed it would without an issue. "I'll lead a patrol myself back to the territory. We can't stay here forever- but you know that." The tom shrugged, feeling the discomfort of the hot sun across his ears. "Have you returned to the old territory?"

"This isn't going to blow over." The Proxy cut the tom off before he even finished his sentence about her possibly having returned to the old territory, deadpan tone stopping everything for a brief moment, her voice quiet enough to not be overheard, but no less meaningful. "You're either dangerously naive, or in complete denial if you think otherwise. You're following Vera's reign, a cat who instilled in the group a notion to kill it's own kits, as determined by arbitrary standards at birth, such as size and apparent strength. A cat who instilled her family in everything, and was willing to kill anyone who so much as complained. Compared to her, you're nothing. You're not her family, you have no blood at all to back you up, you have nothing but yourself, and those cats who bend to rules on your side. This is the League, and you're a new Nemesis. You're a toy at best, one that they want to see if they can break." This wasn't a testament to his skill or lack thereof, merely Senescence view of him based on her own experience. And she'd spent enough time watching to know. "You haven't proved that you can fight anything in your wake, haven't even been able to control your own enough to send a mere patrol to Primal Instinct's old territory. You're crumbling in front of the cats in your own camp, and this will only feed those who would stand against you. Or have you forgotten you have an audience?"
Her tail twitched, subtly sweeping towards the main area of the first floor. As quickly as Senescence's gaze could move, eyes flicked back to their conversations, glares died, and whispers stopped. Everyone was watching Solaris now, scrutinizing each and every mannerism, looking for weakness. The rust and shadow she-cat didn't care what happened to the Nemesis, but she chose to correct him anyway, her words blunt and uncaring, almost like she expected him to fail.
Solaris E'tan felt his teeth grind slightly, not wanting to acknowledge the truth of his Proxy's words. "You raise a fair point." He said after a moment, sweeping his own amber gaze around to view the onlooking cats of the League. They hid their true motives behind stony exteriors, but he knew what they were thinking. "I wasn't groomed for leadership like she and her family were. I merely wanted to give this group a chance, to see if they would change their ways without physical force. If they can't, though, I will prove myself. And I know words don't go far around here, so you don't have to believe me on that. You'll see." His whiskers twitched absently as his eyes turned back onto her. "Will you walk with me?"

She sat for a moment in silence as he spoke, then a few heartbeats more before rising to her paws. "Even you should know better than that. There is nothing sacred here; if you give them a hair, they'll take your entire pelt before you've even realized you're cold. I suppose I should wish you good luck, but this has nothing to do with luck when you think about it."
Senescence took a leisurely stretch after her comment, as though she'd just woken up from a particularly nice nap, before she gazed at him, the half-blind she-cat giving a twitch of her tail as she waited, the tiny gesture speaking volumes. She could have walked away from him without answer, could have made a show of embarrassing him in front of the entire League, undermining what little authority he had. But she didn't. If nothing else, the moment proved she wasn't against him, not when others were watching, at least.
Solaris E'tan's tail tip twitched as the she-cat moved, thankful for her semblance of respect for him. He stood, rolling his broad ginger shoulders back before setting off into the dark wood of the beach forest. After they were out of sight of camp, he felt himself relax just a little more. He led the way through the undergrowth to the edge of the sandy beach, staring out at the strip of land they had entered on, now exposed in the low tide. "Where do you go when you disappear?" Solaris asked, no judgment in his voice. He was merely curious as to the comings and goings of his proxies, and Senescence was by far the most removed from the League.
