Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
For all plot info please look here. this is the beginning of phase one. Solaris assumes the title of Nemesis after the departure of Vera E'tani, names his warden and his proxies, and begins leading the League.
phase one DO: Have your cats murmur about Solaris, whether or not they support him DO: Create other threads, have secret meetings among rebels or bloodliners DO: Begin to suspect other cats of having differing loyalties
DON'T: Incite outright rebellion DON'T: Accuse other cats of having differing loyalties DON'T: Have physical conflict over this issue
DO: Have fun!

The night hung thick and heavy around the clearing, the breeze carrying in hints of salt from the ocean. The moonlight itself seemed watery, dripping down from a waxing half-moon in the star-studded sky. Solaris stood by the fresh-kill pile, his broad ginger form bleached in the dim light. The hulking tom inhaled deeply, feeling the rhythmic thumping of his heart as he paced his breath. It was a strange mix of emotions that flooded his brain- bolstered ambition, apprehension, and the foresight that leading a group as disjointed as Primal Instinct would be very, very hard. He was not Vera, and he did not want to lead as she did. Though he knew that to earn the 'trust' of the League, his reign would need to be solidified. As renowned a Hunter, then Proxy, then Warden as he was, he would need to prove himself as Nemesis.
The tom stood languidly, the muscles along his shoulders tightening and rippling as he moved. He simply could not put it off any longer- he moved to the small boulder that would give him a slight height advantage. "Cats of Primal Instinct, gather around." Solaris E'tan's voice was as deep and measured as it always was, resounding without any hint of ceremonial frill. It took a little longer than he would have liked, cats emerging from the shadows of their sleeping places, gathering in solemn silence around him. When the majority was present, he spoke again, his hard amber eyes sweeping the crowd.
"Vera E'tani has left us. She departed last night to return to her place of origin, Pravus Nocte. She left control of Primal Instinct to me." He paused, locking eyes briefly with the cats he had approached earlier that day before continued. "I assumed my title of Nemesis, and gained my eight lives and my suffix E'tan, last night as well. I know many of you, and many of you know me. I hope that this transition goes smoothly." The thinly veiled threat behind his words rang clear- he had fought hard for his title, and damned be the cat that would take it from him. "Your new Warden is Aconite, and your new Proxies are Altaire, Senescence, Corvus and Lovetta. I expect that they will receive the respect that they deserve with their new positions."
His pause this time was longer, his words weighed carefully. "I won't avoid the issue- Vera E'tani was a powerful leader, and she led us for a long time. I understand that many of you will be apprehensive about supporting me as you did her." The new Nemesis was well aware of the entrenched system of nepotism that seized the League- half these cats were related to Vera in some way. "I ask only for time to prove that I will lead this group to greatness." Finished with his brief speech, Solaris E'tan stepped off of the boulder, rolling back his shoulders and twitching the tip of his long tabby tail. He had felt the tension crackling beneath the composed surface of the calm. Only time would tell if he would diffuse it, or if the blast would prematurely end his reign.
Flame flattened her ears as she stared the new Nemesis down with cold turquoise eyes. She flexed her claws as she watched him depart. She believed someone else should be Nemesis. Someone who has given loyalty to the league and would be a better fit to lead than him. He seemed weak in her eyes and she didn't entirely trust him. How could Vera E'tani leave just like that? Is there something more to this than what he is giving away?
Driscal sat silently outside the crowded cats. He could see the bristling of pelts on some cats while others held a more composed posture. He believed Solaris would lead well for the league. After all, it was law that the Warden would take over as the new Nemesiis. Just as the clan deputies did.
Melori-kun was still a young cat to really be involved in politics. However, she believed bloodline would be best. Vera E'tani had left a great amount of bloodline and had been an exceptional rein as far as the stories in the nursery were told before she had become a trainee. Perhaps those who shared her blood, also shared her gift in leadership.
Senescence, to be quite honest, half wanted to laugh in Solaris' face at the announcement of her newly acquired rank. This would be the third time now, that she'd been named Proxy. The first being when she'd just returned to the League at a hunter's age after having been gone who knew where since her youth, under Roxanne E'tani. She recalled the time well. The Proxy trial then had pit her against her own father, a former Warden of the League. She'd been demoted when Severine took power. The second time had been under Duriel E'tan, a child of Deal and Savannah, and some of Duriel's relatives still found themselves living within the League. That time, she'd stepped down, bored with her position, and content to have to freedom that came with the lack of responsibility Hunters had by comparison.
And now, she was back at it again. It made sense, in a way. The heavily scarred feline was far more than strong enough to take whatever was thrown her way. She'd survived in the League for years, and had survived a childhood, that by the scars crisscrossing her frame, could not have been easy. She'd watched the rise and fall of many leaders in and out of Primal Instinct, including her uncle, Sean, in the Regime, and currently, her mother, Glowstar, of DayClan. Maybe the third time was the charm? Senescence was bored, perhaps this new Nemesis would bring something interesting to her life. She cared little for power, but maybe she'd play along, see if she could rise above both her father and mother and take control of the League for herself, if only to be able todo as she pleased, with no one to tell her otherwise. Maybe she'd stay Proxy for a few years to beat her mother's record.
At the end of the day though, it didn't matter. Eventually, Solaris would die, step down, or leave altogether, just as his predecessors had. The world would move on, and soon his name would be but a memory to all, which was already more recognition than most got. Whether she became Warden or Nemesis was up to chance and the whims of those around her. To her, one future was no more worthwhile than the next, because none of it meant anything.
She could see the looks as she cast her mismatched gaze of haint blue and blind violet around the group. Expressions ranged from acceptance to irritation, to downright displeasure, but at least for the moment, cats had kept their mouths shut. For her own part, the she-cat simply shrugged, leaning back on her haunches. Solaris wanted time? No. He wouldn't get that. Either he would get cats to fall in line immediately, or all hell would break loose. There was no in between, least of all in a place so fickle and power hungry as the League. He was naive to be so hopeful about his reign.

Aconite's ears twitched as her name was spoken by Solaris. Her gleaming blues shifted from the Nemesis to those gathered. With his words a fog of shifting currents seemed to fall over the league. She had had one conversation with Solaris where she was surprised he had asked her opinion on sensitive issues. She was not aware he had been testing her resolve. She had had no demanding desire to be in any kind of position of power. She resisted the urge to let her ears fall back against her skull. She was a daughter and grand daughter of a Nemesis bloodline. Both Quartet E'tani and Indy E'tani. Would the Vera descendants view her promotion as a threat by Solaris?
Daedric hung close to the nursery and Arete. He wasn't about to openly declare his support of the new Nemesis considering his mother was indeed Vera. However since his injury his mother and siblings had all but abandoned him. Now as a father and a mate he felt he had to side with the Nemesis who would keep his family safe and prove to give them the most promising future.
Beside his father, Armani-chan looked up at Daedric's expression trying to read his fathers hidden emotions and thoughts.
Morgana slid up beside Aconite and turned her alight sky blue eyes to the other she-cat. A gleeful grin twisted her features as she examined the new warden."Buck up, looking like a scared deer won't be inspiring confidence." Tone slightly mocking the shaman flicked her tail and let her eyes scan over the other cats gathered around. Pausing on each of the proxies for a moment, her mate in particular, before moving on once more. A striking Siamese pelt caught her eye as she considered Hansel, knowing Solaris E'tani''s rise would cause problems. Her largest concern though would be how that affected her.
Arete leaned down to lick her sons head, a movement to distract herself from the tension that hung among them. The lynx point she-cat was nervous, her children were descendants of Vera; which meant they could potentially get caught up in this. Armani-chan seemed to be keeping an open mind but one sideways look towards Versace-chan let her know she wouldn't get as lucky with her more troublesome child. The little toms expression was bitter and twisted, being still to young to now how to properly mask such emotions. Raising once more she gave Daedric a significant look, communicating silently that they would have to take care to watch their younglings.
Savagnin hesitated only a moment before she padded up to Solaris, now Solaris E'tani. "Are you nervous? You have a big role to fill now." The words were soft, barley whispered as she tilted her head, watching the tom. She felt it was the least to do, offer silent support unstated and subtle. As he had done for her by asking about her adjustment to the league, as unneeded as it had been.
Gucci-chan watched from beside his mother, his icy blue eyes open wide as the murmurs rose and fell. "Obviously one of Vera's family should take over." He said languidly, looking up at Arete. "What about dad? He could be a good leader, right?" The tiny bengal youngling didn't seem to fully comprehend the situation, only latching on the thing he had known- his family being in control.
Kasdeya-kun blinked at the newly crowned Nemesis, her mismatched eyes deep in thought. She didn't dislike Solaris E'tan, per say, but a deep dislike of authority was entrenched in her. It would be nice for cats like her to get a say in who led them- and she wanted to back someone she believed was worthy of respect.
Solaris E'tan dipped his head in absent assent to Savagnin's question, briefly touching his nose to her shoulder in an uncharacteristic display of vulnerability. "I'm okay." He spoke carefully but truthfully, locking eyes with her. "I've come to understand what needs to be done, and I'm willing to do it. But thank you for your concern."
Elyon-chan had listened before shrugging, she didn't see why everyone was getting all bent out of shape. Solaris had been the warden, Vera left, the warden succeeds the nemesis. If Vera had wanted someone else to lead in her place when she left, she would've done so. So the golden tabby reached up her hindleg and scratched at her left ear glancing around at the murmuring cats.
Ava narrowed her eyes glancing around considering the murmurs from the cats, before looking towards her mate Arden. Her mate had aspirations of power. She wondered what he thought of the successor to Vera and the cat Solaris had selected to succeed him. How the once mighty 'royal' family, now lost it's throne. she wondered what her mate thought of this and moved to join him.
