Thunderkit crossed his paws as he watched the other kits sleep and play. The large kitten had woken up early that morning, thanks to his siblings, and was not in the mood to join in on the games. He wasn't grumpy or anything, just reserved. Snuggling closer to his mother, he let his eyes close and simply listened to the chatter around him.
Lilypool purred as her son cuddled into her. She brushed her feathery tail over his body, purring loudly as she gave him a lick. "Did you have a good rest, my angel?" She asked as she soothed the kitten.

Thunderkit let out a yawn and shrugged, blinking away bits of sleep. "Yeah, but the others are noisy." He responded with a roll of his eyes and a little laugh before rising to his paws. "Can we go on an adventure today, mama? I want to meet more of the clan." He meowed, smiling slightly.
“Lilypool.” Came the voice of Violetstar, her purple hued eyes peaking into the den known as the nursery. It was almost as if the feline were asking for permission to enter.
She closed her eyes and gave Thunderkit a warm smile. "We can adventure after your bath. All great warriors must take a morning bath." The queen purred. Her ears twitched at her name, still sounding somewhat foreign to her. She turned her gaze to Violetstar and dipped her head to her leader- that one who so graciously let her and her kits live in their Clan. "Good morning, Violetstar."

A great warrior must take a morning bath? He had never heard that one before, but just assumed she was right. Lilypool was a great warrior and he always saw her bathing in the morning, so it must be true right? His ears perked up as Violetstar entered the den. "Good morning, Violetstar." He echoed his mother, dipping his head to the leader. He had seen several of the older cats do that, so he assumed it was how they greeted the leader.
As the leader entered the den she found herself smiling lightly at the words she overheard. “That’s right, a warrior must always look presentable.” After saying such, she sat down and looked around the nursery. “How is everything going, Lilypool?” She looked to Thunderkit, surprised at his manners.
Lilypool chucked at her son, running her tongue quickly over his head. "We are well, thank you Violetstar." The gray tabby replied. "The kits grow bigger and heartier every day. It's hard to keep up with them sometimes." She chucked again as her aqua gaze fell on her litter. Four beautiful, healthy kits, unaware of the struggles their mother faced to keep them alive outside their new territory. "Thank you again for giving us sanctuary. You are a very gracious warrior." The queen purred, dipping her head once more to the tortoiseshell she-cat.

At Violetstar's words, Thunderkit began to groom parts of his pelt. He wanted to be the best warrior in all of the lands! As Lilypool mentioned how big they were growing, he puffed out his chest and stood a little taller. He was the biggest of the litter, for sure, but he knew they still had a while before they would be apprentices. "Yes, thank you Violetstar." He purred, beaming up at the leader. "Do you think you could teach me some hunting tricks one day? I can't wait to be an apprentice!"
As the young tom said this, Rainpaw peered into the Nursery. "Hello Violetstar, Lilypool, and the kits." He purred. The broad-shouldered tom was looking more and more encouraged as the pain from his family's death flickered away. The grief would always remain deep in his heart, but it drove him to be the best warrior he could be for his clan. "Violetstar is a wonderful teacher, for sure. I wouldn't mind teaching you either when I'm not training."

"I wanna learn a trick too!" Rushkit chimed in, tumbling his way over from the other end of the nursery. He crashed into Thunderkit and fall on top of him, a very loud belly laugh escaping his mouth. He raised himself from atop Thunderkits larger body and shook his shorter tabby pelt. "I wanna learn a trick too!" He echoed himself. "Teach me a trick!"
Her purple eyes glanced about the kits. How eager they were to become warriors for their clan, it warmed her heart. “Of course.” Lavenderkit should be here among them, and almost a warrior. The thought made her mind drift, heart suddenly aching, but she pushed it away before looking to Rainpaw with a smile. Being a leader was demanding, each time a leader would take on an apprentice, it was known that the apprentice would train under other warriors as well as the leader.
