Lanaryu padded out of the nursery, letting out a big kit-like yawn as the sunlight washed over his golden tabby coat. It had not been long since Summerclan adopted him and his siblings. They were beginning to grow more comfortable, so he figured today would be the perfect day to explore the camp for the first time. His aqua eyes swept the camp in surprise. It was so large and there were taller, older cats everywhere. He attempted to stretch out his legs in hopes that they would somehow grow an extra few inches, but his plans did not succeed. Oh well. He would be as big as them in time.
"You weren't trying to go explore before the rest of us, were you?" He brushed up against his brother and bumped his shoulder with a soft mrrow. Eldin's coppery eyes were playful and he was grinning. He was just as eager as his brother to get out exploring, and he wasn't about to be left behind for this first expedition... though he didn't mind so much if their other siblings didn't tag along. He loved them fiercely, but he wanted to start now, and then he could rub it in their faces later that they got to explore first.

Lanayru flashed him a smile and shook his head. "Of course not. I knew you wouldn't let me do that." He responded with laughter and flicked Eldin on the ear with his tail. "It is so big. I don't even know where to start." His eyes floated from his brother to the apprentices den. He was so ready to be in there instead of in the nursery, but they still had a few moons. "Which direction should we go?"
He grinned. It was big, but that just made him more excited to explore every little nook and cranny of it. "I don't know. How about... that way?" He pointed his tail to the den closest to the entrance. It looked fun enough.

Lanaryu peered in the direction of his brother's tail and smiled. "Sounds good to me!" Honestly, he was not sure of who lived in that den, but surely they wouldn't mind if the two kits simply looked?
Eldin bounded toward the den, flicking his tail over his brother's muzzle as he passed. His stance was confident and almost lazy as he strolled toward the den, purposeful, but as he came to a halt in the mouth of the den he quickly became more nervous. He glanced back once, then stepped into the den, his head ducking uncertainly.

Lanayru followed Eldin with a smile on his maw, glancing in all directions as they made their way to the den. If the camp was that large, he couldn't imagine what the outside world was like. Once they got to the den, he brushed next to his brother and also hesitantly made his way in. "Hello?" He called, blinking against the dim light.

(sure cx that'll work!)
"Hey, what are you two doing?" A voice piped up from inside the den. Cabbagepaw could hardly be seen in the shadows as she laid in her nest, clearly dozing before the kittens' arrival. As she noticed Lanaryu jump in surprise, she gave a small laugh. "Are you exploring today?"
“Yup! We’re going to see everything,” he replied proudly, puffing out his russet chest. He strutted closer to peer at her curiously. “You must be an apprentice. Is that where we are?”
A low, menacing growl rumbled in his throat as the dark gray tom descended on Lanaryu, sweeping away his paws and pouncing on the smaller tom with his teeth bared. “This is my den, little one,” he hissed into his ear. His voice was cold and stiff as Sootpaw struggled to keep the act and not break out into laughter. “What makes you think you can just walk in here?”

"Yes, that is exa-" Cabbagepaw started to tell the little tom before she was caught off guard by Sootpaw. She rolled her eyes as the other apprentice attempted to act so menacing. "Oh, you better show him how strong you are." She meowed to Eldin, rounding her eyes to appear serious.
Lanayru stiffened in surprise as the grey tom barrelled him over and fought to not let out a squeak. "Uh.. I'm sorry, sir, uh... We just wanted to meet everyone...." He stammered, fighting for words and calmness.
"And you thought the best way to do that was to barge in here? Were you going to put thorns in my nest too? What fierce little warriors. Meet everyone, nah, what a mousebrained excuse," he hissed.
Eldin's eyes widened in panic as he looked between the two apprentices. Was she serious?! She wasn't going to help? The apprentice dwarfed the little tom! He gulped as he turned to face Sootpaw and let out a meek, vaguely threatening growl. "Hey! You leave my brother alone!"
Sootpaw's cobalt gaze locked on the other kit. "At least one of you is brave. Foolish, but brave. Maybe I'll punish him instead, would you like that?" he asked Lanaryu.

Cabbagepaw admired Eldin's spirit and let out a little giggle as he growled. She quickly hushed, not wanting to spoil the fun.
The golden kit narrowed his eyes and squirmed out from under Sootpaw, coming to stand by his brother. "You'll have to fight both of us!" He exclaimed, fighting to keep his voice calm.
Sootpaw licked his lips as he stared them down, the corners of his maw pulling back in a fierce grin. "You think that'll help? I could beat you with three paws behind my back," he hissed. Eldin's brief courage disappeared as he stumbled backward, sputtering, ears back and tail drooping. The apprentice's spine arched as he loomed over them, stepping closer to the pair and lowering his muzzle so they could see the trickery in his clouded eye -- and the mirth in the other, as his facade quickly melted away, and he started to laugh.
The dark gray tom sat back heavily on his haunches, sides heaving as he yipped with laughter. "Did you see their faces, Cabbagepaw?"

Finally able to release the laughter that had been building up in her chest, Cabbagepaw dropped to her paws and joined Sootpaw in the humor. "They were so shocked, yet so brave!" She purred, flicking Eldin on the ear with her tail.
Lanayru let out a breath of air, but his chest was still pounding. Sootpaw was right, though. He could have beat the two kits easily. After letting out a little laugh of his own, he turned his bright gaze to the apprentices. "Could you show us some fighting moves? What if another clan attacks and we have to face an apprentice or warrior?"
"Glad to know if WinterClan invades we'll have two quivering kits to defend us!" he chortled. The apprentice glanced down at Lanaryu as he spoke, honestly shocked to see he was still standing there. "The other clans won't hurt kits, and even if they wanted to we wouldn't let 'em get close enough. You think you can fight off a warrior on your own, anyhow? You're too tiny and weak."
Eldin's fur bristled at the insult, but... he was probably right. His ears still pinned back, he looked pleading at his brother. "Let's just go."

Lanayru wanted to gripe back at the apprentice, but stopped once he saw Eldin's face. "Okay. Let's go find the Elder's den and see if Endlessthunder wants company." He meowed in response, eyes flicking from Sootpaw and Cabbagepaw.
"Awww don't go." Cabbagepaw insisted, rising to a sitting position. "Sootpaw isn't all that bad."
"Yes I am," Sootpaw protested with another fierce grin.
Eldin hesitated, gazing at his brother uncertainly. Should they stay or go? He wanted to leave, but what would the older apprentices think if they ran away like cowards? "Maybe we shouldn't go," he mumbled after a moment.

Lanayru glanced between Sootpaw, Cabbagepaw, and Eldin uncertainly. He knew that the apprentices would continue to keep bullying them, but he also didn't want to seem weak. "Alright, but why should we stay if you two are going to be a pain in the tail?" He questioned, finding a bit of boldness in his spirit for a moment.
