Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Ebonygold sighed heavily as the Senator sat outside the edge of the camp, staring over the cliffs with grief in his golden eyes. He had known it was dangerous to start a family, but he had never imagined it would be like this. His sons dead, dying, and blind, he had thought he learned to cope with death all those moons ago, but now the old tom knew that foolish of him to believe. It was different when they were your kin.
He shifted to glance back at the camp. He had been avoiding even his mate recently, hesitant to speak with her about the decision he'd nearly made at Deal's execution, but he knew it was foolish to avoid everyone he knew. He should be supporting them as much as he could.
Brokenstride was curled up at the edge of the camp, avoiding everyone. No cat approached her anymore, which wasn't surprising. After what had happened, she wasn't the most social of cats, and it was getting worse by the day.
His golden eyes fell on his daughter-in-law. She was taking this hard as well. He rose and slipped over to sit beside her quietly. He was not as good at reassuring cats as his mate, but he could relate all too strongly to how she felt. "Hey," he meowed softly. "Have you eaten yet?"
Her eyes took a moment to focus on the mouse. As they did, she slowly reached out, dragging it back to her by its tail. She gave the tom an appreciative glance before silently eating.
Ebonygold watched in silence until she started eating, then sighed silently in relief. He sat down at her side and curled his tail around his paws before fidgeting and letting it tap on the ground beside him instead. "Have you visited your kits lately?"
She wanted to run and hide. “You really think anyone’s ever going to forgive him?? You ever think they’ll look at my kits and not see Wormwood?? You really think they’ll ever be able to see past everything??” Her voice rose with anger.
Ebonygold sighed, taking a moment to collect his thoughts. "It won't be easy, but what choice do they have?" he murmured softly. "We can't change the past, but they can only punish the kits for their father's crime for so long. Once they are older and can prove themselves, the clan will learn to accept them and forget their past. Wormwood did a lot of damage, but he did a lot of good, too; he could pass on his caring spirit to them."
