Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Patchkit yawned as he passed sleepily out of the nursery to sit st the entrance of the cave. He knew he wasn’t allowed to go outside, but he wanted to. He could remember days back in the barn when they would all sit out and look up at the stars, and he missed seeing them around him; the cave was cold and damp and dark. Patchkit hesitated, glancing surreptitiously over his shoulder. Maybe if nobody was watching...
"Where are you going?" Came a sudden voice, belonging to that of a black and blue marbled she-cat with piercing golden eyes. She stared Patchkit down, and deep within said eyes danced curiosity; she, too, wanted to escape the confinements of the nursery and go on an adventure. She tired of the same old thing, and was wanting to experience something new and exciting for once, wherever that may take her. "Whatever you're doing, I wanna be apart of it, okay?" She nodded her head in confirmation, as if giving herself permission - which, technically, she just did. Lifting herself onto her paws, the long-haired tabby feline descended upon Patchkit, looking at him expectantly. "Well, what are you waiting for? Are you going to speak?"
Not alone, then. He straightened his shoulders and lifted his chin, choosing confidence over guilt, though she clearly saw straight through it. Caught. He hadn't interacted much with the clan outside of his siblings and a few chance encounters with the other kits -- well, they were hardly chance, given they all lived in a den together -- and he was wary about all of these clan cats. While slowly growing used to their lifestyle, he saw how frequently their lives had been uprooted in the short time since he'd come, and it felt wrong to get attached to other cats knowing they were just going to die on him.
"I'm not doing anything," he replied calmly, looking away from her and back toward the exit. "Just watching. S'all."
Patchkit was an enigma, to say in the least. Seakit usually got the best of everyone, and was able to see straight through them, but Patchkit? Oh, no, his mind was locked away by walls that were double-barred with steel. He was interesting and a peculiar little thing, something that intrigued Seakit to no end. She wanted to get to know him more, and delve into his mind and figure out who he is; she craved to know the information that dwelled within Patchkit's mind.
"Not doing anything?" Seakit echoed, and if she were to have eyebrows, one would certainly be raised by now. "Your eyes tell a different story, Patchkit. Now, what were you doing?" The molly padded up to him and swept to the side, her tail coming to curl around his back, touching him ever-so-slightly. "Are you too afraid to go outside?" She teased, this time taking a step, and then two steps outside of the nursery. "Nobody is watching, you know. We can easily get away while we still have this chance."
She was rather talkative. The older kit suppressed the urge to roll his eyes and just leave her; though it would feel right in the moment, he suspected he would regret it later. If he really was going to live here, he needed to make a friend or two, and he couldn't do that unless he started to pay more attention to his clanmates and see if any of them were the type of cat he'd get along well with. Still, it surprised him to have her come up and sit so near to him when he was a total stranger to her. For all she knew he'd turn around and try to claw out her eyes! Not that he would, he shuddered at the mental image of the violence, but she didn't know that. Didn't her mother teach her to be careful of strangers?
"Afraid to go outside?" Patchkit scoffed, looking up at her sharply. "I was born out there. I lived out there in the wild for moons! I've seen more outside in a day than you've seen in your entire life. I'm not scared." His tail thumped against the ground resolutely. "But we aren't allowed to leave yet, either." While he had wanted to go out himself, he wasn't as inclined to go now that he had company. He couldn't afford for her to sell him out.
The molly stared at him for a few moments and pondered on what to do. She could easily convince him to go with her; it wouldn't that hard. Especially with the knowledge that she knows of him, now. He used to live out in the wild himself, for 'many moons', and she couldn't help but to think maybe he stretched the truth a little bit, because then how wasn't he made an apprentice yet?
The long-legged she-kit huffed as she came to twist around Patchkit, her tail curling around his face and then patting his right cheek gently. "Suite yourself. I'm going on an adventure." With that said, Seakit's head snapped around as she got a good feel for the outside, her claws digging into the soft soil below as if rooting herself in place. Should she really go? Alone? She took one last glance at Patchkit and that's when she finally made her mind up. Let's go. With her claws dug into the ground, she launched herself forward at an amazing speed, her elognated legs kicking the ground underneath her as she made a bee-line straight towards WaterClan's entrance. And then, she was free!
"What? You can't! Get back here!" Hissing quiet curses under his breath, Patchkit stumbled to his paws and shot after her. His ears pinned back and he just had to hope that nobody saw the gray-and-white kit go tearing after her and through the mouth of the cave. Immediately, the roar of the waterfall was even louder in his ears, and he saw the continuous sheets of water tumbling just before his muzzle. His eyes widened in awe and he stumbled to a slow walk, tilting his head back to take it all in. He had seen it before, when he came to the clan, but it was still such a foreign idea that it stunned him to see it. The roar had become mere background noise from within the cave, but now it hit him full force again.
He shook his head and looked around for the other kit again. "Seakit? We can't go, someone might see us," he hissed as he scanned for her. The path down from the cave ran to the side of the water, so he crept quickly that was as he sought her out.
Seakit was already well on her way, only taking a few moments to stare down the waterfall before surpassing it. As light broke through and she was finally out in the open, she sighed, breathing in the smooth, crisp air. She could hear Patchkit's cries for her to come back, but, she ignored them. She knew very well that despite being young, she could pull her own weight; she was larger than most kits, anyways.
Seakit disappeared in the canopy of the forest, her paws moving lightly over the ground as she looked up at the sky. Trees hung overhead, and if you looked closer, you could see little buds beginning to form on the once-bare branches. Seakit had never experienced new-leaf, and she was quite excited for the beauty it had to offer.
He hissed when she failed to make an appearance, agitated. Should he go get a warrior to help find her? After a moment, he decided against it: he wasn't a tattletail, and he disliked talking to the other cats anyway. He crept after her, carefully edging his way down into the woods, then scampering into cover beneath one of the dark bushes. His heart beat quickly. He had been safe and comfortable inside the barn, but this was different; surrounded by the sounds of wildlife, he was suddenly struck with the memory of the cruel hawks he'd gazed at through the doors, and realized he was perfect prey out here in the open like this. They could be anywhere around him in the trees, just waiting...
His voice grew thick with fear. "Seakit, come on! Get back here, wherever you are! You're going to get us killed!"
