Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
To say the league had welcomed her was something of an oxymoron, the she-cat had been tested, mocked, and had been under trial for moons when she first arrived. But Savagnin had loved it, had loved the thrill that was always tightly coiled within her, had relished the feeling of invisible chains choked tightly around her; had enjoyed it even more when they had finally slipped away. When Savagnin had finally become a hunter that was watched no more than any other cat in the league. A tiger's stripes now among the leopards spots. Conversation partners were now easy to find, and risk easily stumbled upon, and there was still a freedom to her life she relished.
All in all, while saying the league was welcoming was an oxymoron it was an accurate statement for her all the same.
Solaris had found his way to the beach before sunrise that morning, settling himself at the edge of the sand in the very spot he had been promoted to Proxy. The night before, Vera E'Tani had approached him once more and appointed him Warden of the League. It was an honor and a burden, and he was starting to feel the pull. He had been raised among these cats, affected and afflicted by their mindset and culture, and knew many of them. But now the League was in a season of rebuilding, and a large portion of that fell to him. It wasn't that he doubted his own abilities- his own power and potential had been his stronghold in the shifting seasons of Primal Instinct- but now he was taking on training and patrol organization and things that he had never seen himself doing.
So now the sinewy ginger tom sat, watching the sky turn from navy to a rose blue, awaiting the sunrise on another day on duties.

Her steps slowed as the she-cat spotted the warden, elegant lines and graceful beauty tightly coiled as she considered her own self; deciding if she was up to the delicate dance of socializing with any other cat in the league. Slowly she started moving once more, dusty gray paws sinking into the damp sand and granules being tossed up to get caught in the longer fur along her legs. Solaris was not a tom she could claim she'd had the honor to meet. Not yet, though it seemed today would be the day.
"Solaris." She purred in greeting, keeping her tone soft to set the right tone for their interaction. The she-cat had no energy to play word games at the moment, to make this a battle of wit. "Enjoying a quiet moment?"
Solaris straightened and turned to see the newcomer, interest in his amber gaze. “I am.” He returned her greeting with a nod, looking over the she-cat closely. Familiar, but not bringing a name to mind- he had become too busy to converse with any newer cats. “Forgive me, but I don’t believe I know your name.” The statement was framed as a question, his curiosity growing as he watched her.

"It's Savagin. And there is nothing to forgive, I'm not the sort to make waves; it simply makes sense you might not know my name." She hummed before cheekily tagging on, "though I will remember and bring it up in the future perhaps should it suit my purposes. Just a fair warning." Her tail flicked out as she turned away and watched the ocean beside him, lofty words fading in the sound of the water eating at the sands.
"Cheeky." Solaris responded, a tinge of amusement lingering on his words. The ginger tom watched her for a moment more, then turned to the ocean as well. "I assume you're a newcomer. I used to know the initiates fairly well, but I've been... busy as of late. How are you finding the League so far?" His curiosity was genuine; he had grown up here, so the perspective of outsiders had always interested him.

She didn't bother answering his obviously rhetorical question, instead moving onto the one that actually needed an answer. "Its.. interesting. I very much enjoy it, it felt like coming home to me. But I know it is not for everyone, I know for sure there are those that could never fit into the league." Sharp eyes narrowed in thought, thinking of her nieces and nephews particularly. They could have lived in the league but they never would have been happy in it. "I think it's a place of survival of the fittest and I enjoy it."
"It's good, that you enjoy it. It's not for everyone, but I've always felt a certain affection for the League." Solaris felt an urge to move, so he turned to her again. "Would you like to walk as we chat? I'm interested to know more of your background. We don't have as many initiates these days." Besides, the sky was rapidly lightening, and they may go blind from the sunrise if they sat and stared at it for much longer.

"I'll share what I'm comfortable sharing. And walking will probably get more out of me than if we let me sit and brood as you ask." She laughed, the sound light and easily being carried away by the sea breeze. Pushing to her paws, she shook trying to rid her long fur of the sand that had gotten caught up in it. Though now that they lived on an island with a beach all around she found sand seemed to follow her wherever she went. "You can pick what direction we walk, or where we walk to."
Solaris simply nodded in response to her statement, thinking briefly that he enjoyed the sound of her laugh- not many felt comfortable enough around him to laugh. He stood, sinking his taut frame into a stretch for just a moment before padding off, closer to the gentle waves and then parallel to them. The sand was grainy under his paws, but this sensation was offset by the pleasant warmth of the rising sun. "Tell me how you found Primal Instinct." His request, though blunt, was stated rather kindly.

She walked beside him with a slowly swaying tail, "it might be more accurate to say Primal Instinct found me." She started, doing her best to think of how to keep the story as simple as possible. "I ran into one of your hunters back before you moved territories. They were sick from the tainted prey, I thought it best I put them out of their misery. But before I did they told me about where they came from." She left out the threats and scathing insults they had exchanged. "I thought it sounds grand and made my way to you just as you left your territory."
"That was merciful of you." Solaris briefly wondered which cat it had been, before casting the dour thought from his mind. "And how did you find the initiation process? Was it... overly harsh, or did it test you in the right ways?" Having been born in the Regime, Solaris had never been through the process himself, though his parents had been. They had never revealed exactly what they had gone through, so his curiosity remained unsatiated.

Savagin blinked slowly as she glanced towards him, considering it. "It seemed more to weed out those who weren't really committed to a new life within the league. It tested your strength and skills as well, but I got more of an impression of it testing mental will over everything. I found it rather easy, but I can see it not being the same for every cat. It seemed a bit tailored the individual. Or at-least that's the impression I got."
"That's a thorough assessment." Solaris felt a sudden salty breeze ruffle the fur on his shoulders, though it wasn't unpleasant. "Being a member of the League does require a certain kind of mental stamina. Do you think there should be some form of standardized examination, or did you think the tailoring made it more useful?" The ginger tom didn't mean to make her feel like she was being interrogated, but once he began down a line of thought it was hard for him to stop. He returned her gaze, trying to seem more sociable and less single-mindedly inquisitive.

"Tailoring it to the cat made it more useful. If you think about it I would not test a loner or rouge coming in the same way I would test a clan cat." She explained using the two differing backgrounds as examples. She wouldn't say she felt interrogated by the other, in fact she could respect the tom wanting to gather more information to help better the process of accepting new cats into the league. It certainly seemed an improvement from the old ways where from what she heard cats wee often just thrown into a fight almost upon arrival and if they survived they could stay.
"That's a very good point." Solaris' cordial demeanor broke for a moment, a small smile parting on his face. "It's the best observations I've heard about the initiation system. Not many cats seem to care about the newcomers to the League." Solaris had always favored internal improvement, and finding a cat who could meet him at his level was a welcome change of pace. "I'm pleasantly surprised at your attention to detail."

"Details are important when one is a loner. Even more so when one is a loner that has claimed territory as their own and must defend it." Her mind flashed back to the mangled bodies of her sister and mate. Killed because of their bold actions, Savagnin had never blamed herself and most likely never would, but it was still a question she wondered about often. If there had been any sign about the coming rouges that they had missed. "It's rare to find a leader who cares so much towards improvement."
"Perhaps that's why I was promoted." He shrugged, offering another half-smile. "What was your life like before the League, as a loner? I've never lived outside of Primal Instinct so I'm woefully inexperienced with the outside world." He had casually attended Glowstar's birthday party despite never being invited, but he hadn't had much interaction there so he didn't count that.
