Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
She tried to keep track of all her clanmates. Sometimes it was not easy, the world was on her shoulders, it felt. Yet, it was only her clan. For a cat whom had never had the chance to experience deputyship, one could say that she was taking well to being a leader. Violetstar had a Warrior come to mind. One that could often time be known as a cat whom would worry. It was time she checked on the tom, and his well being. Especially mentally. Her gaze swept across the hidden cavern of camp, ears twitching.
Jaysolstice padded out of the warriors' den and blinked sleep from his eyes. Sleeping, hunting, patrolling. It was nice to be back into a routine, but also extraordinarily painful. He was a young cat and for someone so young he had already lost so much. His mother had taken him and his littermates prisoner not long before they were made warriors, she killed Vanillapaw during that time period. Then he finally found out who his father was, a WaterClan warrior and his mentor! His own father was right under his nose his entire life and he didn't even know! Then the sickness hit and the Clan fell apart. His remaining surviving littermates, his father, and his mate were all still missing, and sadly, the worst was to be assumed, not many survived the ordeal. His gaze scanned the camp, landing on Violetstar for a few moments, he gave her a polite nod and began to head slowly towards the camp entrance, trying to decide between a hunt and a border patrol.
The tom has already caught her eye. She watched him for a moment, and even gave a small not in recognition to his simple greeting. Violetstar twitched her ears, watching him head for the entrance of the camp. Though he wouldn’t have time to really decide, as she was already walking towards Jaysolstice. “Before you pick a duty of the day, I’d like if you join me on a walk.”
Jaysolstice stopped and twitched his ears in surprise before turning to look at Violetstar. Mentally wondering what their new leader could possibly want with him. He'd done his best to lay low and be as invisible as possible since the death of his sister, and the disappearance of Bluepelt, the rest of his littermates and Venia just added to his desire to seclude himself. "Okay." he responded, a feeling of unease rippled under his pelt.
She could see the flash of worry spread along his features, despite his attempt to hide it. Violetstar gave him a reassuring smile before she touched the tip of her tail to his shoulder. “No need to worry, Jaysolstice. I am not here for any negative reasonings. Come.” With her last word she waved her tail and then began the trek across the stepping stones, and out of the hidden cavern.
Jaysolstice nodded in response and breathed a sigh of relief, following Violetstar out of the cavern. The sun was bright today, making Jaysolstice feel out of place. It didn't feel like it should be a sunny day. It felt like it should be cloudy. But then again the young tom's life had been turned upside down not only once but twice, at least it seemed to be turning for the better once again.
She could feel that the tom was following behind her. Once they were out of the camp area she slowed her walk so that the tom might walk directly beside her. “How are you doing?” She asked the warrior casually. Hoping deep down, that he was comfortable enough to be honest with his leader.
Jaysolstice thought about the question for a few moments, just long enough to catch up to Violetstar. "As well as to be expected, I feel." he answered. "I lost a lot of my kin when the ripple cough hit and I don't know if they are alive or dead yet." he responded, in a slightly angry tone. Jaysolstice tended to have a short temper when it came to things out of his control, especially if he couldn't understand why they'd happened, why he always seemed to be the one to lose a loved one in a tragic accident.
She could feel his frustration. Deep down, she felt it in her bones. She too, questioned why they had lost so much through this sickness. Violetstar’s loss was family, friends, loved ones, her only kit. She had felt shattered, and truthfully had wished to die along with them for the longest.
The leader gave a small nod. “I understand.” Truthfully, she did. Not like when some cats would say they did, but didn’t really feel the pain, only saw it. She felt it.
It took Jaysolstice a few moments to realize he'd been holding onto his anger... and it was only hurting himself. He sighed. "I know I wasn't the only one to lose those I care about during the sickness but I felt like it came too soon after I lost my sister after my mother took us hostage." he replied. "A lot happened all at once but at least WaterClan is recovering." he added.
Violetstar leaned towards the tom, her tail resting softly against his side. “Pain fades with time. We will heal, but we will never forget. Just keep them close to you in your heart, and know that we will see them seasons from now, when we join their ranks.” She reminded him, her eyes gazing at Jaysolstice.
