Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Perfectstorm hadn't seen his... mate? No, they weren't that close, but it wouldn't be correct to call her a fling either. She was somewhere in between which of course couldn't be defined. Anyway, my point is, he hadn't seen her since he snuck away from their nest in the middle of the night about three days ago.
Now, for a casual relationship such as theirs, something as simple as leaving without saying goodbye was annoying, but not damning. Perfectstorm was not apologizing for that. The big silver tom lowered himself to the ground and rolled onto his back, an uncharacteristic show of submission for, while he knew that was he had done was the right thing to do for the greater good, there was no greater wrong he could have done to Blindfaith.
"Go ahead and carve me up. I deserve it," He said, his golden brown eyes meeting Blindfaith's for just a moment before flitting away, "But you had to know that this wasn't a choice for me, it was my duty."
Blindfaith had been sleeping through the morning when Perfectstorm let the cold air in. Her head rolled to his side, angel blue eyes that would make fire freeze in its place. Her claws caught against his jawline as she slowly leaned herself up, moving his chin forward as she did forcing his gaze onto hers. She truly was the sun gods sister, like the sun her gaze was almost painful to stare at as it bore through him with a hot harsh stare.
Leaning down till she was nose to nose her voice trickled through his ears, whispery soft and honey sweet, "You stole from me without asking," her words trailed off with disappointment before plunging her claws into his chest just enough to make him wince, but not enough to impale deep through skin, "Now don't down talk me by telling me what you deserve, what about what I deserve? How are you going to make this up to me, hm?"
Her seizure of his jaw slowly turned into a soft caress of his face, "I think I have to punish you, huh?" Her paws, feather light tip toed up his shoulder, sending gentle tingles all the way to his neck. Her body hot, pressed against his as her pink tongue moved up from his chest up into his- EAR. But not just, a gentle affectionate lick of his ear, but uncomfortably deep and slobbery and just not a comfortable feeling when moments ago she had been setting him up for a naughty boy being punished by the traditional good girl scenario to this slap in the face feeling in his ear.
Rolling off of him, Blindfaith pushed him aside, "Get used to the lack of thrilling romantics, you'll be having a lot of that for a while." Turning her head over to face him she continued, "I mean, you didn't even invite me to come raise them with you in SunClan. You make it seem like you would prefer this arrangement than me coming back home. I'm literally on the fence about it, it's why I'm in DayClan, I don't know if I'm going to SunClan or the Regime. But now if I come back to SunClan I get to have the fun of a traditional SunClan family with complicated drama and weird family dynamics. Super enticing Per."
Calling him Per, was a clear sign of her anger, unable to even call him perfect any longer. But some sympathy seemed to wash over her as she all too reluctantly said beneath a layer of begrudging love she couldn't deny, "Perfectstorm," She corrected herself, unable to stay completely mad at him enough to disrespect a name that she knew probably meant quite a bit to him.
Perfectstorm wished she had actually gutted him, it was far less cruel than the game she was playing right now. That being said, he maintained a serious expression and stayed absolutely still throughout all of the 'punishment' save for when she gently nibbled on his ear. That... that was really something, and he couldn't help but swish his tail from side to side in excitement. He stopped quickly but not quickly enough to escape notice.
She won this round, but maybe he'd win the next.
"Look..." Perfectstorm began, still on his back, "... I'm sorry you have to learn of this under these circumstances, but every one of your siblings abandoned SunClan in the past moon. Yes, even Bravewolf. Taking the kits to SunClan before you become aware of this was the only way I could guarantee their safety. I couldn't risk you raising them in the Regime, which I assume is where your littermates all went."
His ears were pinned back, his eyes weren't meeting hers. Perfectstorm looked and felt guilty. Even now he was doubting his actions, but it was too late, what was done could not be undone easily.
"I found the perfect mother for them. They took to her right away and will be happy," He offered, he viewed it as a compromise, look, I may have stolen your children but at least they have good new parents, "I made sure that they kept the names you gave them and, when they are old enough, I will tell them who you are and the circumstances that brought them to SunClan. They will probably hate me for it and that's fine. It's the sacrifice I made to make sure they had the future they deserve. Faith."
He decided to cut down her name too, but for a different, more literal reason.
"Blindfaith." He corrected himself with a ghost of a crooked smile, eyes meeting hers once again. His tail swished slightly. Would she forgive him?
Her heart crackled like a flame, but that fire roared to a stop taking all the light out of her eyes in one fell swoop. All of her siblings had left, even Bravewolf?
Her wounded expression didn't falter into a smile or erode at his comforts as he continued on. Her claws tracing the edges of her ear, even folding them over during some parts. After all his words had tumbled out there were a few moments of silenced that ticked on leaving room for his words to echo in her mind. "Don't tell them about me, okay? You decided we wouldn't be a family so we're not one. You made that really frickin' clear the other day when you found a perfect mom for our kits, because I wasn't it," Her voice broke at the end, turning away for a second, her paw moved up to silence him before he could dare to say anything, "It's whatever. I'm not-" She took a shaky breath before turning to him with a forced, but hopeful smile, "Can we just go back to the part where we kiss and spend our nights together. Because I really don't want to get reminded about your standards and all the ways I don't fit them anymore."
If Blindfaith were the hot fire, then Perfectstorm was the cold air, threatening to wipe her out. But most nights, he was the strong gust of wind that sent the fire inside of her higher, made her feel more alive, just not tonight. Tonight she looked more fragile, a little more like how she used to look before she reappeared again changed in many ways.
From Perfectstorm's perspective, Blindfaith was giving him a lot of mixed signals. Did she hate him or did she love him? He expected the former and thought this would be way more cut-and-dry. He'd walk away with a few more scars and she'd go on with her life without him, hopefully finding herself a mate she deserved and starting a family that was compatible with her lifestyle. It seemed she didn't want that, though, in fact Perfectstorm still had no idea what she wanted, even though she literally said it point blank. Can we just go back to the part where we kiss and spend our nights together. Because I really don't want to get reminded about your standards and all the ways I don't fit them anymore.
What did that even mean!? He was too dense, too set in his ways, to understand it. There was no future where things went back to the way they used to be... and he didn't even want to touch her comment about standards, he had a feeling he had already lost that discussion before it had even begun.
So, for the third time, he said -
"I'm sorry."
Perfectstorm wasn't sure how many times he'd need to apologize but even now it wasn't enough. He realized now that he should have trusted her, told her about her siblings and then invited her to SunClan to live with him. But it was too late now. Those kits had parents, parents who would die for them, and there was no way he could take them away now that they were so heavily guarded, "... I'm sorry I didn't trust you. I'm sorry I made you feel like an unfit mother. I just... there were too many unknowns and I did what I thought I had to do. I did what I was raised to do. SunClan kits need to be raised in SunClan. I know that rule is old and not even true anymore but I was afraid," He paused, clearly struggling, his eyes began to water but he did not let loose a tear, not yet, "... Look. I've just started to accept that Bloodystar was not a good guy. That his ruling, his decisions, they were dangerous and nearly destroyed the Clan. But Bloodystar was my father in many ways. He's in my head. When I found out you were pregnant, when I saw your siblings leave SunClan one by one, I just... I did what he would have wanted me to do. And it was wrong."
When he spoke next, his voice broke, and tears began to flow.
"Can you just-" Blindfaith began, but stopped herself short. She pinched her fore head, straining her head back and blinking away a few tears because some stupid part of her just made her tear up when someone else started crying. "Can this not be a pity party right now, it was just one litter. I'm not-" She sucked in a breath, recomposing her emotional angst into a normal speaking voice, "I'm not sad that you didn't choose me as a mom, I'm sad that you didn't choose me at all." The fire that had been filling back up in her eyes the entire time he filled up with remorse now softened, no longer blazing as deeply, "Can I show you something?"
(I'm going to infer he lets her show him so you don't have to do one reply of him just saying, "okay." But if he wouldn't have followed, let me know, we can change it xD)
Gently pushing him up she rubbed his shoulders reassuringly before leading him out to the desert. A cold brisk walk later the desert opened up into overgrown greenery with a burnt crater in the center. Blindfaith sat down by the crater, staring into the ground, "I didn't leave SunClan, I got caught by these cats hunting elementals. They trapped me in the astral plane, I had to learn to be strong and be alright with the fact that I'd likely never talk to another living being again." Her paw traced the edges of the earth nervously, before smiling with a feigned confidence, "So if I can grow up and change from that experience so can you!" She said, giving him an awkward pat on the back, however guilt quickly doubled over on her making her drag her paws over her cheek, "Alright listen, I'm going to tell you a pretty big secret and you're not going to tell anyone because I saw you cry like a little whelp and it's the least you can do. And... Maybe also because you love my unconditionally?"
Perfectstorm had opened up far more than he had ever intended, so he was happy when Blindfaith swiftly charged the subject and moved location. He wiped away the tears from his eyes then got up and followed after her without a word.
~*~
The silver-furred tom soaked up Blindfaith's touch, careful not to lean too closely into her but very happy to have any bit of her affection. He'd never imagined she'd want anything to do with him after he stole her kits. He'd conditioned himself to be a rock and accept the reality that today would be their last true meeting. But that's not what happened. So at the present he wasn't prepared anything, not for the touch, not for the astral plane and certainly not for the question about unconditional love.
"I.. I don't know what to say," Hey, at least Perfectstorm was continuing the trend of honesty. He returned his golden gaze to her with a sheepiness that had never been present before. He had more questions about the astral plane but, given how quickly she shifted the subject, he concluded now was not the time, so instead of focused on her final question... which was something he didn't really understand, "I promise to keep your secret, Blindfaith. It's the least I can do for literally rehoming your kits. But, before you tell me, can you answer my question, so I can properly answer yours?"
Now he looked embarrassed, another emotion she'd never seen on the usually stoic SunClan giant.
