Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Soaringdawn, a DayClan emissary had left to try and find some feathers for some of the mothers to sort through to give to their kits. He had set off ten minutes ago and was already back in camp, but with nothing in his jaws, "HELP!" He screamed practically at the top of his lungs, his eyes wide, "There's a kit bleeding right at our border, he's got a wire, I-I've never seen a cat get stuck like this, his body is stuck in it including a limb, I think it's restricting his lungs. Someone please help me free him!"
Auburnwolf stirred in his sleep and opened an eye to Soaringdawn, "Is it one of ours?" he asked leaping down from atop a bookshelf and onto a nearby couch, his tail curling around himself.
"Well... No I think it has SunClan scent, but we have to follow the warrior code, every kits equal," Soaringdawn argued.
"SunClan doesn't follow the warrior code, let the kit cry for a while a SunClan patrol will find him eventually. If we go over there now and a SunClan patrol see's us they'll think we did it. It's their fault for letting some stupid kit of theirs get out of their sight," Auburnwolf hissed.
Knightkit had overheard the conversation and came over. "You can't leave the kit there! That's cruel!" He said amber eyes narrowed up at Auburnwolf. "It's not guilty of the sins of it's clanmates!" He said.
"No it's not, but his clanmates made the decision to be so violent that no one trusts them enough to save anything, not even a kit. It's what happens when you value yourself above others, you alienate yourself. I'd know," Auburnwolf said, though he didn't seem too apologetic for his behavior, "If you're so worried about it go and do something about it, just don't bother me."
"You can't send a kit out there to save him, we need real help," Soaringdawn insisted.
"He'll walk past the gate realize he doesn't even know where the kiddo is and turn back," Auburnwolf assured him, "Now just sit down and relax. Yeesh."
She had perked up at the scream from Soaringdawn, eyes going wide as the emissary explained what had happened. Yellow eyes snapped onto Auburnwolf as he hopped down, ears pressing down flat against her head at his dismissive response. She scrambled to her paws, trotting over until she stood next to Knightkit. "I can't believe any of DayClan would ever even consider leaving a kit to suffer," she added to the kit's words, incredulity thick in her voice. Almost automatically she draped her fluffy tail across Knightkit's shoulders, especially with the way Auburnwolf spoke about him. She couldn't even begin to understand how the kit happening to be SunClan mattered. It was a kit, helpless in whatever this wire was. No one could really wish harm upon such an innocent life, expect for perhaps the League she had heard her Clanmates talk about. She stared up at the warrior, searching his gaze for any sign that perhaps he didn't mean what he said, before she turned her attention onto Soaringdawn.
"I'll come and help," she meowed. "It might be a Twoleg thing, so I might know something about it from when I was a kittypet." The young she-cat rarely referred to where she had come from before DayClan, not so much out of a sense of embarrassment as much as a feeling she was more DayClan than kittypet, especially with how long she'd been a member of the Clan by now. She hoped her previous knowledge might come in handy, though. She didn't know a lot about Twoleg wires other than perhaps the thick criss-crossed wires she'd seen be used to defend special territories sometimes, but even if she didn't end up recognizing what it was a second set of paws couldn't hurt.
Knightkit looked at the she cat who had come and spoken up to help. He nodded to her and then to Auburnwolf he turned up his nose. "I will! Since you can't do it." He marched towards the exit tiny tail held high. "Soaringdawn where is the kit at?" He asked as he moved to head out.
"Knightkit what do you think you're doing!" Rubyflame cried having come looking for where her son had gone wandering off. The gray kit's ears lowered and he looked away from his mother. "You can't go outside. It's not safe."
"Well apparently it's not safe for anyone! Auburnwolf refuses to go help a kit in need because he hates SunClan cats!" Knightkit said with a sniff. "Even though they're clearly more considerate than you lot." He muttered under his breath.
Rubyflame frowned at Auburnwolf. "I'm not a fan of SunClan cats either, but we shouldn't stoop to their level." She said. She looked around for someone to watch Knightkit. Then she sighed. "Here, since you think you're so above rescuing SunClan kits, watch Knightkit. Soaringdawn, where's the kit?" Rubyflame meowed. "I will go. Knightkit please stay here. Maybe go look for your father, or one of your siblings, or maybe go see Glowstar. I'm sure she'll love to show you her kits."
Knightkit huffed. "But I want to help the kit!" He said.
Auburnwolf leapt down fully from the couch to be at Knightkit's side, "They did murder my mate and stole my son from me. He was named after me, Auburnkit. I guess it could be him," He decided with a small lean of his head, "And maybe seeing a kit like you he might decide to come and stay in DayClan. so you should come with."
Auburnwolf said walking ahead of the rest to the door.
Soaringdawn still stared after Auburnwolf with a glare, but it softened. His father had his kits taken away from him, but he didn't turn out to be a cruel tom like Auburnwolf. But he also didn't have his wife murdered at the same time of losing his kits. His fur flattened, "Follow me."
Soaringdawn began to lead the way out of the Keepers Mansion looking back at Rubyflame with uncertainty of her presence. Maybe it would be good to have her come. In a weird way it felt that the Immortal Council were more like leaders at times than deputies. But he supposed that was because they were a council. Still given that Rubyflame had a second life he felt almost protective to ensure she kept it. They were the only clan where everyone knew how many lives their cats had.
Knightkit puffed up his chest and looked at his mother. "I'm going to go help the kit, are you going to try to stop me or what?" He asked tersely.
Rubyflame felt a wave of uncertainty. She could see in her son's amber eyes he was resolute. He wanted to go. He wanted to go help the kit in question. But he could be in danger...
But if she said no, what if her son just grew to hate her more?
She let out a sigh, "Keep close by Knightkit," She said as she followed after Soaringdawn. Knightkit's expression brightening as he trotted alongisde his mother.
Soaringdawn neared closer to the border until they could hear the kits shrieks. Auburnwolf's ears perked up, but he didn't attempt to hurry his pace as he followed behind.
The tiny brown kit was trapped around his rib cage with his front left paw binded into the thin steel with it.
"I have no idea how to get him out of that to widen it and the silver thorns were just too painful to tear it off of him," Soaringdawn explained.
Knightkit immediately darted over to the other kit, before Rubyflame could grab him.
"Knightkit!" Rubyflame said, "Be careful!"
Fortunately her son stopped in front of the other kit, and sat in front of him. "How'd you get stuck in that?" The fluffy gray kit asked considering the silver stuff. Trying to figure out how the other kit had got caught.
Rubyflame eyed the silver thorns, "Twolegs use this stuff." She muttered looking around to see where the source of the wire had come from. "To keep things out of areas... I've never seen someone get wrapped in it." How were they going to get it off him without getting pricked as well
Auburnwolf looked the kit over, "Guess we're going to have to start digging his grave now before SunClan cats find him like this and blame us," He shrugged, but had a grin on his face, he wanted to mess with Knightkit.
"HEY!" The little kit squaked back at Auburnwolf, "I was just trying to jump right through it, but I guess I'm fat!" He sobbed, apparently not factoring in that his paw was the part that was mainly caught and if his paw could be pulled out he could delicately squeeze through.
"Aww geez... Alright, um. He'll just have to lose some fur I guess and we can tug him out?" Soaringdawn suggested.
