Stiff-legged, head low, the rugged tomcat doggedly paced back and forth along the SunClan border. His coat was short, mostly black with a white underside, and his prowl was a little off as if he was still growing used to the length of his legs. As he jerked his head back, frustration rumbling in his throat, the corner of his eye caught movement. The trainee spun around to face the approaching warrior, his lips drawing back to reveal the jagged edge of his broken fang.
"Stay back," the young tom warned, "or I'll hafta skin you."

Darksonata had been watching the trainee for quite some time, unnoticed in the shadows.
He didn't know whom this cat was, but he grew bored after some time of watching them go back and forth as if they were waiting on someone. Only, no one ever came. If he had wished, he could have remained hidden for far longer than he had. The trainee only noticing him, when he allowed it. Stepping out from weance he had been watching and waiting. He stood stoically, the breeze fanning his long black coat out around him making the constellation painted across his cheeks reflect little rays of light into the rolling hills of DayClan's territory.
He didn't say anything, only taking a single unflinching step forward as he was threatened. Blue eyes narrowed in on the cat before him.
The stranger stepped forward and the young tom growled lowly, but he didn't flinch either. He was shorter than average, but near fully grown; an older apprentice or a young warrior, if he was a clan cat. His head was high, stance broad and loose, his eyes open enough to widen his field f view; he was on edge, a battle of indecision raging across his features to flee or fight. This place was open, exposed, and he disliked it. If he ran, he would have to be quick and last a long time, because there was nowhere to hide.
Instead, he stood his ground for now. "What you want?"

Impressive.
The young cat held his ground, though he could see that the trainee was clearly nervous and uneasy about his presence there. He didn't offer to move any closer to the tom, instead his first response being simply to blink. Darksonata held his ground, one ear flickering forward to show that he had indeed heard the other cat. He stood motionless, until he snapped forward
He hadn't been reaching for the trainee, instead motioning at the rivet the tom had created in the sand from all of his pacing with a sheathed paw. Tilting his head to one side in question
The strange unnerved him. He had been around cats larger and older and more experienced than him before, real fighters that would kill for their meals, and faced them. Sometimes they made threats. Sometimes they would attack first and chase him off. Sometimes they would just take his prey and let him run. But they never sat in silence like this, never just stared at him. What was this tom waiting for?
Then he moved.
The trainee didn't let the warrior hit him. He leaped backward and yowled, his voice loud and powerful and angry, though in these open fields it did not echo the way he expected. A summoning cry. Then he lunged in, missing entirely the sign that Darksonata had left, dashing in quick to slash at the tom's legs and dance back away.

Like everything Darksonata did, his fighting was efficient.
Instead of make large sweeping motions to escape the dash and attack, he simply moved to the side at the last moment. Allowing the tom's paws to slash through nothing but air before he retreated. He made no move to retaliate, not even dropping into a defensive stance. He remained standing relaxed and at ease, allowing the other cat to do all of the hard work while he was allowed to rest. He hadn't really intended on engaging in a fight with the youngster, nor was he offering any sort of pursuit. He simply waited, watching for the cat's next move.
His paw punched straight through the empty air and he stumbled forward, struggling to catch himself. He was unable to brace himself for the next attack, but to his confusion, it didn't come. He didn't know what game this cat was playing at, but he wasn't going to give him a chance to change his mind. He spun around and dove low again, throwing his weight at the tom's hind legs, but this time it was a feint. His head tipped back to focus on the tom's tail as he snapped at it.

Darksonata was ready for the attack, even thought it was but a feignt, it still had enough force behind it to use to his advantage. He waited until his opponent was at the lowest point of his dive, and the moment he started to tilt back upwards, he would find a frim paw planted on his head. Using the cat's own momentum to not only prevent the second strike, but to push his face down until the dirt. He pivoted until we was standing firmly over the young cat, one paw firmly planted on his head to keep him down. He made no move to hurt the cat beneath him, simple letting him struggle and holding him firmly though he could have done much worse.
His chin slammed into the dirt and the only sound he could manage was a grunt. He fought against the pin, straining his broad shoulders and even doing some undignified wiggling, but to no avail. And he was frustrated. The trainee was clearly an untrained fighter, everything he knew he had figured out on his own, but he thought he knew enough; he thought he had enough tricks and brawn to get by and he hated that he had been defeated so... easily.

He allowed the young at to struggle for a few more moments, until his body went limp under his paws. Whomever this cat was had no or little formal training in how to fight, and his inexperience clearly showed. As the trainee prepared himself for the worst, he would feel teeth sink into his scruff as Darksonata lifted him to his feet and released him. Free to run or attack as he saw fit "Good Fight" Darksonata took a step back, sitting down and wrapping his tail around his paws.
Even defeated, he would die with his eyes open. He stared ahead with his jaw locked, waiting for that final killing blow, and the inevitable end that would come after. He had lived a short life. Most rogues did. At least he had made something of it. He was just starting to make a future for himself, but maybe it wasn't to be.
He felt the warrior loosen his grip, and he took in his final breath, waiting for the blow to land. He was so tense he nearly missed the words the tom spoke as he stepped back.
"What are you doing?" he asked slowly, pushing himself back to his feet and looking blankly at the tom. "Finish me, you coward!"
Couldn't he react at all? This warrior was the strangest cat he had ever met. He was defeated, there was only one way to make sure he stayed out of the way, but this cat was just going to let him go?

Darksonata blinked, before shaking his head from one side to the other.
He stood, making his way over to where the tom had been pacing and pointed at the indention in the sand "Why?" is was a simple question, on in which left it open for the young cat to respond however her would like. To give as much or as little details as they desired.
The tom stared at the line in the sand, bewildered. That was all Darksonata was worried about? A little mark? He would have smoothed it out when he left; the former rogue knew better than to leave behind obvious signs he had passed by this way.
"I was looking for someone. Trying to pick up their scent. This is the last place I found it." He shrugged his black shoulders. "Long gone now."
"Doesn't matter." The trainee knew to be careful. He wasn't going to give out any information that might expose him or anyone else. What he was looking for wasn't this tom's business. "Not one of your groupmates, if that's what you're thinking."

Darksonata shrugged, giving the tom one last glance before padding off. However he didn't go to far. Simply sliding back into the shadows to observe from afar.
He stared after him, his coat prickling with mistrust. First, the tom hunted him down for coming near the border, then walked off as if nothing had happened? Well, good riddance. He didn't want to be around someone that crazy anyway. He valued his continued life.
... But the stranger had the chance to kill him, and he didn't. He bested him and let him live. He was all kind of mad for that, but maybe the trainee was a bit madder. As Darksonata slid into the shadows, he blurted out, "Wait. Don't go!"
The tom stepped forward, turning his head to keep his eye facing the warrior. "Teach me how you did that. How to fight."

Darksonata turned slowly, giving the young cat a rather bewildered look.
What was it with all these young cats wanting him to teach them? First Silverpaw, then Fatepaw, and now this random cat from another clan. Honestly he didn't understand why all these cats that he pushed away clung to him like little burrs. He blinked a few times, his steps coming to a stop. He hadn't planned on leaving yet anyway, and..... well.... If he managed to distract the young cat successfully than perhaps he could figure out who they were expecting to meet.
He walked slowly over, circling around the trainee with trained eyes. Suddenly he swiped with a sheathed paw, testing his reaction time.
