This never would have happened if Dreampaw didn't snap that twig mid-stalk. But since he did, his target--a plump rabbit--noticed him before he could pounce and darted into the woods. In a rare spur of the moment occasion, the WinterClan student decided to give chase. Maybe because he was embarrassed about self-sabotaging his own hunt, but somehow this huge rabbit was putting him to the test. He'd ran through nearly half his territory and still couldn't close the distance between them. But he was getting closer and closer, and he knew it was only a matter of time now.
Except, time wasn't on his side today.
So caught up in the chase, Dreampaw didn't even realize the moment he crossed over FallClan's border but suddenly the stench of the clan was overwhelming. He was only a tail-length away from the rabbit though, and it had come from WinterClan... Not that any FallClan cat would believe him. Ugh. What's the point putting in all of this work just to turn back around? It seemed pointless. Stupid. But he was already deep into FallClan's territory now so was turning back really worth it? No. Not really.
When his claws finally sank into his target's hide and he fell atop the creature's form, Dreampaw relished in the afterglow of what was an obnoxious hunt, but a hunt nonetheless. He delivered the killing blow and then sat up, heaving and exhausted. He needed to get out of there fast, but with a twitch of his ear he realized he wasn't alone anymore. "Ah, man," he groaned.

"Hey nice catch!" called Promisedpaw, his stark white coat visible from foxlengths away, his thick tail swaying high in the wind as he bounded over to his friend, "Yeah, that was so cool, you really got that one good, didn't think you had it for a second when you paused there but hey you did it!- uh..." he continued, the words spilling from his mouth at the excitement of the chase he had watched, and the newly acclimated Fallclan, once Moonclan, apprentice had yet to really get to know all his clanmates, or even what they smelled like compared to his new clans neighbors. "Whats your name again?"

Dreampaw cocked his head. Well, this wasn’t the welcome he’d been expecting but oh well. Who was he to complain? Feeling more at ease, he sat down with a protective claw drawn over his kill. He wasn’t relinquishing it, that was a given. He didn’t think the apprentice would try to take it away from him either, but he wouldn’t put him past him if he did.
“I’m Dreampaw,” he half-drawled, half-panted. “Not sure I know you, but thanks for the uh... praise? Are all FallClan cats this friendly or are you a special case?”

Promisedpaw furrowed a brow, unsure what the other apprentice meant by his words, but shrugged it off nonetheless. "Praise is due where its due," he meowed assuredly back, "Im Promisedpaw by the way, Hystericstar hasnt given me a mentor yet since I just got here, but Im excited to learn how to hunt like that," he let the words sink in a little, but with no immediate response he continued on, "You wouldnt mind giving me a few tips and tricks would you?"
