Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
“You’re so cute, keeping up this act like you don’t love hanging out with me.” Esh threw a smug grin at Pine over her shoulder. At his mention of Jackdawpaw, she suddenly squealed, cutting off the nodding she’d been doing up to that point as she listened to him, and did a little skip in mid-air. “Oh! Speaking of! I got my first apprentice! He’s the best. He did this,” she gestured to the three raw scratches across her face that were just beginning to heal again; she’d gotten them from Applecrumble on their auspicious first meeting, and during her first training session with Doompaw she’d instructed him to reopen them to blind her with her own blood - and he’d done it! “I’m so proud.” She shook her head, letting out a contented little sigh and looking up at the stars as she turned away.
While looking upwards, her gaze snagged on the towering trees with their tops washed silver by the moonlight. A grin breaking across her face, Eshek bounded forward and reared up against one of the pine trunks, balancing on her hind paws and looking up at the branches. “Come on, legs,” she teased over her shoulder - then hauled herself up. Scraps of pine bark showered down behind her as she scrabbled up the trunk, the earthy tang of sap filling the night air. Finally, shaking her head through the canopy of green needles, Eshek emerged at the very top of the tree as if from water, letting out a loud gasp of air and looking around with wide eyes. It was beautiful up there; in every direction there was just a sea of silver pine needles that shimmered in the moonlight and whispered quietly in the cool breeze, and here and there a few lone branches poked up towards the wispy clouds illuminated by the stars, like the masts of shipwrecks. It felt like being on a pale cloud high above the earth. “Hurry up!” she called down, still looking around. “It’s beautiful. Hope you’re not scared of heights.”
Finally dragging her gaze away with a little breath, Eshek pawed around for a bit before she found a smooth, flat branch. She picked her way over to it and sat down, her tail dangling down in thin air. With nothing but a rippling silver sea in every direction, she was just a white figure sitting above the treetops themselves, her paws lost to the canopy. She looked around with a smile on her face, pleased with herself and more than a little enchanted by the view.

Luckily, Pine was, in fact, not scared of heights. He was scared of spiders, and definitely didn't know how to swim, but heights were fine. Maybe because he was so tall already, and if he was terrified of the high places, he should probably be afraid all the time thanks to having legs for days. "Don't expect me to fix that for you this time around." He shook his head, though internally knew he totally would patch her up if she asked. Perhaps with a little protesting to make it seem less like he was just head over heels for her.
The brown tom climbed after her, blending in with the bark, not unlike a bug with natural camouflage. "Please! If I can survive my sister, trees are nothing. They don't generally employ creatures that try to murder me." He snorted, eventually making it up to the branch she'd chosen, and sat himself comfortably next to her. He almost looked like a branch himself, given the coloring and his lankiness.
They don't generally employ creatures that try to murder me. "Man, you haven't met the murder squirrels in DayClan. Rumour is they instigated a bloody coup against their own kind, and Lucistic told me he found them having a rave one night after they stole his earring. They freak me the [bleep] out, but I'd also be lyin' if I said I totally didn't wanna go to a squirrel rave." She grinned casually at Pinesimmer, all her defences down and the silver moonlight making her blue eyes glow. After a brief moment of quiet, her eyes flicked up and down the medicine cat. "You could totally be the lovechild of a tree, y'know. Or play one in a youngling production. Do they have those in the Clans? When I was a kit this totally tyrannical trainee - apprentice," she translated as an aside, "took us all over and made us act out this stupid script he'd written, except it turned out it was only because he was creepin' on this one girl and wanted to cast them in the lead roles so he could kiss her. So I killed him." She said it so casually, with a grin at Pine like it was a perfectly normal punchline. Her eyes lingered on him for a moment before she turned back to the sprawling sea of treetops, all washed silver by the huge, misty moon hanging directly in front of them. It felt close enough that Eshek thought she could surely reach out and touch it. She had the stupid, childish urge to try, but she refrained.
"You ever been on a date? 'Course you have, you're a homicidal medicine cat, I get all-" She fanned herself with one paw, gasping and doubling over slightly, "just thinkin' about it. Anyway, this feels like one, doesn't it? Good thing we're just friends." She laughed, looking over at Pinesimmer.
