Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
A lot of this solstice stuff wouldn't really affect Raystrike that much, and it really was a shame. But, a medical necessity was a medical necessity. Her health warranted that she stayed out of the desert unless she had no other choice. At this point, she had no other choice. She needed paints for her little projects in SummerClan, and, well, where else was she going to get paints than SunClan? She trotted through the territory and did the best she could to ignore the itching in the back of her throat. It improved when she arrived in the camp. It was shielded from the dusty desery winds, or more so than the other parts. She couldn't quite run here either. But why would she when she saw a fantastic looking she-cat lounging around Raystrike couldn't help herself. Her steps spoke the confidence she couldn't express in words as she sat down next to her. "If you were any more dashing I'd think I was hallucinating..." She flashed her a smile. "I'm Raystrike, the one and only. You are..."
Soaringlight wasn't easily embarrassed but Raystrike's blatant flirting most certainly caught her off guard. She blushed and flicked her ears back, which of course only made her look cuter, before regaining her composure and clearing her throat.
"Raystrike, huh..." She only barely remembered the she-cat's name and face, just another one of the many in SunClan, nothing special about her at a glance outside of her unique scent. The smell of SunClan was present but the scent of a Mountain Clan, she guessed SummerClan, was much stronger. It didn't take Soaringlight long to connect the dots, "Aptly named, huh? You must have been one of the first Rays, judging by your scent and since it seems you don't know who I am."
The dark-furred she-cat got to her paws and stretched, yawning when she did so. Evidently she'd been wrapping up a cat nap when Raystrike had approached her, "I'm Soarlinglight, your unwilling Priestess Promised and sister to the Sun God."
That blush only did make her cuter, as did how fast she recomposed herself. The Ray kept her smile on as the she-cat rose to her paws, and her eyes twinkled with interest. The Priestess Promised, huh? It only made her hotter. "I see... his hotness certainly rubbed off on you." She had yet to meet whatever cat the Sun God was reincarnated into, but that was besides the point. He clearly wasn't the attractive one in the family. "Well, my dear Alluringlight, mind escorting me to the paints?" She brushed by her, making sure to lean into her as she passed. And she really leaned. "I've haven't been around for a very hot sec, so I might need a reminder on where to go."
The silver Bengal, like her mother, flirted like no tomorrow when someone of desire was in front of them. She loved doing it as much as her mother, but Igziq didn't consider she-cats. That was her loss more than anything else when cats like Soaringlight were on the table.
Alright, the flirting was too obvious, Soaringlight was embarrassed for only one more comment before she tuned the rest of them out. She was used to various SunClan cats trying to manipulate her and this was hardly anything new. Besides, she was pretty sure she wasn't really in to she-cats...
"Uh, sure," Her voice almost wasn't hers: Had she really just agreed to this weird date thing!? It wasn't really in her character but neither was backing out of something she'd committed to. Soaringlight would be going with Raystrike to the paint stores and that was that. Sighing, she put her paw over her face for one second before padding on ahead. May as well make small talk, "I imagine it must be tricky creating paints in other Clans. It's unlikely they have similar clays that we do here, after all SunClan is the only desert Clan."
She had just scored herself a date! How could this day get any better? Sure, she could never convince the Priestess Promised to become a Ray, but there was always time for fun when she came back every now and then. The bengal smiled as Soaringlight rose to her paws to lead her away. Raystrike stood well within Soaringlight's personal space when walking beside her. She wasn't quite brushing up on the she-cat, but she was far closer than she needed to be for the task at hand.
"Well, they literally have nothing to make paint. That's why I have to come back here to get it, ya dingus! With lungs like mine I can't stand being in this place for too long." She signed. "But, you know, it has to happen."
Soaringlight redirected her steps just enough so that their pelts weren't brushing, but soon she realized it was a losing battle. They'd be walking in circles if she didn't allow it. So, she sighed and continued to walk a bit too close to comfort.
"I know that MoonClan makes paint with... something," She volunteer as the store's entrance came into sight, "And if their territory can have the necessary materials, I'd imagine some other Clans do, too. You serve in SummerClan right? Have you tried using... uhh.... berries or ground up flowers or something? Don't you have a lot of those?"
She was trying to make small talk and be friendly, but it came across as a little forced. But would Raystrike notice? Hard to say.
Raystrike understood that the she-cat was getting uncomfortable... but she really didn't care that much. If Soaringlight wanted to walk away, then she would. And she chose not to. "Yeah, but those guys just don't paint like ours. Like it is waterproof, which is cool, but they're so stingy about telling cat how to make it. Like it's not a big deal, just tell everyone and whatever, you know?" She paused. "I've tried... but the clay is much better. Don't know why, but it is."
