On any particular day Ghostwood could be found sulking around the burial grounds, his eyes the only thing to spy, and only if you were truly looking. Otherwise, his dark coat blended nicely into the shadows of the underbrush. Today was a day not unlike any other, and there he was, lazing about, his chin propped atop a rock as he dozed off, waking only shortly to the sounds of small prey around him, though hunting wasnt his intent. He was here simply to take in the solemn silence of the grounds, away from the bustle of camp.

The Burial Ground was not a place Silverspectre frequented often, despite his name. It was just...so different from what he had grown up with, in WinterClan. Loss was...loss. In the frigid mountains, there was rarely a body to recover when one found themselves in the frigid cold, and the rescue team had never really found the body of his mother, after all. The idea of death was still a sensitive subject, and his own loss couldn't be buried in a space like this.
Still, it didn't feel the same to him. His own ancestors weren't here, after all, left far behind in a land he no longer walked. The silent tom had assumed he'd be alone–not many seemed to frequent here other than that festival FallClan had–but he found himself looking eye to eye with another cat, as if he had just been caught like a deer in the headlights.
Tentatively, he tilted his head, raising a tail in greeting to the other cat. He hoped he wasn't disturbing the other cat, though he couldn't quite remember ever meeting this one before.

The dark tom watched as the other arrived, raising a brow as he tracked his movements, not bothering to say anything. Most that came around here were here to mourn or to get away from camp to get into some odd nefarious activities. As they locked eyes he narrowed his own, hoping that it wasnt the latter option that had drove the other cat to the grounds. He didn't need anymore trouble than he could cause on his own, and definitely didn't need the type that could get him in trouble with the authority either. He flicked his tail back, slowly, as he was quietly accepting that the other wouldn't be a problem, and gave him a short nod, as if he was welcoming him into his home.

The somber eyes of the other tom was met with bright ones, who didn't seem to understand the severity of this place. Silverspectre truly didn't, after all; to him, death was nothing but a cycle. He had long buried his grief before he had arrived at FallClan's borders, after all. It seemed as if the other tom had made this his space from the way he greeted back.
Silverspectre wanted to speak, to ask why the other cat was here, of all places, but when he opened his mouth, words didn't seem to have any desire to leave, and he found himself closing his mouth once again. Instead, he gestured towards the space, a silent question of 'what are you doing here?'

"Its quiet here," he responded, sweeping his tail to show just how truly empty it was. Not that it wasn't immediately evident. Save for a festival here and there, and Ghostwood himself, the place was always eerily silent, "Makes good hunting grounds," he explained further, his false reasoning for why he was here all the time, his favourite excuse. "What are you doing here?" he deflected, settling into a tighter crouch, adjusting each paw one by one into a steadier stance in an attempt to solidify his lie. Even without owing any explanation to the other warrior, he still didn't want to hear about it later. Best to get his story straight first, worry later.

The silver tom found that he didn’t exactly know how to answer the other cat. Rarely was there a reason or rhyme for what he did; the trees seemed to speak today. The oaks spoke of their catkins, their acorns yet to come. The beech tree whistled about the cats who had died in the forest, the crows who had feasted. The elder spoke of the warmer seasons, wistfully hoping that it’s flowers would bloom more brightly than yesteryear. The clouds had pointed to the west, a faint scent of storm upon its breeze.
He had simply followed their melodies to here with little to no purpose at all. For a clan, it seemed like every move was always calculated; one left camp to patrol or to hunt, he rarely echoed the same sentiments.
He gave the tom a sheepish look as if embarrassed to admit he had simply been lost. Silverspectre shook his head, admitting that there was no reason he was here in particular. His mouth opened, trying to explain how the trees spoke in his language, the language of life and beauty and an ancient whistled song...but no words came out and he found himself flushing once again at his inability to connect the way other cats would.

He nodded, understanding, his voice quiet as he responded, mostly to himself to answer his own question. "Dragged here then," he decided, knowing the feeling. Sometimes it seemed that he served little purpose other than relaxing in the calm of the burial grounds. It seemed the territory had this way of making cats come and go as it wished, and for now it was singing rather loudly, pulling in those from far and wide. Every day brought a new traveler into their camp. Though this was different, it was all the same.
"Do you have a plan for what you'll do here? Or are you waiting for that too?" the warrior asked, tilting his head.

He tilted his head, expression deep in thought. Did he have a plan? He had come and gone for years, wandering the world without a purpose. He knew three things. One, his family was better off without him. That was why he left. Two, he was never going to find peace in WinterClan. That was why he joined FallClan. Three, most cats he met had immediately dismissed him with polite smiles, wondering how in the world a mute cat could be useful to a clan. That was, perhaps why he had never thought more than the next step ahead of him. Plans and futures were an ambiguous concept to Silverspectre, but Ghostwood had a point.
Silverspectre replied with a shrug, looking rather uncertain. His eyes darted upwards, briefly meeting Ghostwood's before looking away again. Was he waiting for something? For his life to begin? That, he did not know. Turning to Ghostwood, he gestured with his head before shrugging once more, as if asking. Do you have a plan? Is anyone truly sure enough of themselves to know what they're doing?
